"I purchased this food holder over 5 years ago. It is still holding strong! I love being able to pour my 40lb bags of dog food in there & not have bags hanging around. Keeps the food fresh longer too!
Another plus is that the top is replaceable. I lost the original & was able to buy a new one that fit perfectly!
I would recommend this product to any pet owner who buys food in bulk or to those who buy in small quantity because bulk is a pain handle. Very durable & strong. ~no I do not work for them, LOL!~"

"Why buy bulk if you can't keep the food fresh by the time you get to using it? I have these containers pretty much for everything. I have one for my koi food which I keep outside next to the pond. It keeps the food nice and dry, free of any pests; even though it's located where it's directly exposed to the elements (rain, sun, etc.); I also keep my dog food in another one; Funny thing was that the raccoons have figured out that the pet food was stored in one of these, but they can't seem to get at it. I don't think they can smell the food in it, probably just that they have a higher IQ than other typical wild animals. Finally, I keep my dry food for human consumption in several of these containers too! I buy rice in 50 lbs bags, as well as, flax seeds (golden and brown varieties) in bulk. These containers keep all of it fresh and dry. I scoop out what I need into smaller containers to minimize the amount of times I do expose the contents to air. Highly recommended!"

"The Gamma Vittles Vault pet food storage containers are by far the best constructed and most durable pet food storage containers on the market and I should know since I've tried a myriad of other kinds and brands.
I own three of these in various sizes. They provide a very tight seal which keeps insects and moisture out. The heavy duty construction and threaded lid are far superior to other brands that I've tried. If you're looking for a lasting pet food storage solution that works as it should and one that you'll be happy with over the long term, these can't be beat."

"Why spend extra money on quality dog food if you don't store it properly? I've found this container to be well built and simple to use. It keeps my dogs food fresh and safe. And I have yet to fill it all the way, it easily holds a bag of my dogs food (33 lbs). And it isn't too noticeable and is easy to store out of sight."

Stacking can be a problem

"I bought two of these for bird food. They really look good. I keep them in a garage, and after reaading others reviews, I would not leave them, as tempting as it is, outside. It is regrettable that the manufacturer does not sell replacement tops.
I, however, discovered another deficiency which means that I won't be buying any more. When you stack them if the top container weighs at least 5 or 10 pounds more than the lower one, it compresses the lower one so that the screw top will not turn. This is an eminently fixable problem by the manufacturer, merely by putting in a few more layers of the plastic, i.e., thickening it, in at least 4 vertical sites.
It is too bad that they seemingly inadequately tested it before releasing it and that sellers are unaware of this, and the other problems cited."

"I purchased 3 of these stackable food bins to store dog food in my utility room. I was tired of bumbling around the bags of food, and wanted to conserve space as well as tidy the room. The trio certainly met my needs. When I first set them up, we had problems getting one of the lids to work, but with persistence, we have it working most of the time. The other two are easily opened and closed with one hand, which is great when I am handling 3 bowls of dog food."

The lids are the downfall of this item

"I bought this to keep birdseed safe outside. However, it turns out that squirrels, skunks, and other toothy animals can destroy the lids, actually chewing through them in an attempt to get at the contents. The first time this happened I thought was an fluke, but it happened again just two weeks after I bought a second container. You can't buy a replacement lid! These containers are very expensive, and not being able to replace the lid is ridiculous. They have lost me as a customer. I will not spend the money to buy yet another one of these containers, and I will not buy other products from this company."

"This Vittles Vault is the BEST storage container around. Its angled opening allows easy access to the food for you and can easily stack these. The capacity of 40 pounds or larger actually fits the whole bag of dog food! The spinning closure insures nothing is getting in that may spoil your expensive food. It also keeps the smell of food under secure and tight closure to boot (which is a plus for those with dogs that have gifted sense of smell). In fact, I don't use them just for dog food and find new ways to use them all the time. I LOVE my Vittles Vaults (I own four and counting...) and you will, too."

"I purchased two of the 40 # Vittles Vaults because I was looking for something that I could store outdoors and not worry about the weather affecting the food inside. They are exactly what I had hoped for. They stack nicely and keep the food fresh. Best of all my dogs can't get "extra helpings" even though they are stored in the same area. The seal will fall out if the lids are dropped but is easily replaced (same seal). I also found them difficult to carry when full, but then so are the bags of dog food! They are without doubt the best way to store dog food that I have found."

"Upon buying 2 of these containers I was very happy, it did all promised. My problem started after about 6 months. In Arizona, the heat made the lip of the lid crack and break off. I glued it and it worked for awhile but broke in other spots and rebroke. You can not buy a replacement lid for the product. So you pay $50 and can't get a new lid to fit it.
The manufacturer of the lid does sell lids online, but they won't fit this particular container. The lids they do make would fit any 5 gallon plastic container with a 12" mouth. If I did it all again I would not purchase this product, but would creat my own container for cheaper."

Great pet food storage solution!

"After searching extensively for the best solution to storing 20 pound or larger bags of different foods in very limited space for my two dogs and one cat, I decided to try the smaller size of stackable vittle vault. I bought three of them and have been using them stacked on top of one another. The system is working very well for us, and I highly recommend them. They are very well sealed. My only cautions are that when stacked like this it is unrealistic to fill the container to the 45 lb. dog food capacity, and you probably shouldn't stack more than three units on top of one another for safety reasons. I did a lot of research prior to my purchase and knew what to expect, but the Petco product description doesn't tell you this about the product design."
