"This heater does heat the tank but it heats it up way to much. The control on the top dosent really let you control the temp of the water."

doesnt keep a steady temp.. Date: August 8, 2008
"I am going to return this product today after having it for 30 days, it never stays at 1 temp, it goes on when my tank gets to 80, yet when its at 76 it stays off and then at 78 it goes on and it could be affecting my fish! Another thing when i go past the meduim mark it turns off, so i either haave it at medium or above or nothing. So please just spend a little more money and get a better one."

not so hot Date: May 21, 2008
"So, basically the clamp on the back of this thing practically prevents submersion up to the waterline so far as I can figure it. The Waterline marker is about a cm from the top of the clamp on the heater and thus from the lip of your aquarium, creating a bit of a problem for my particular setup, as my mystery snails need a small space at the top to breathe if they want to.

Maybe I'm all wet, but this heater sure isn't.

Still cold on top of that. Back to the drawing board."

Wouldn't buy again Date: May 13, 2008
"It kept my tank heated but it never shut off so the temperature of the water was always way too high. The settings are awkward to adjust and hard to see. Mine went bad in two months."

"I own a 10 gallon tank and i bought the cheepest(in price) heater. Even thought it doesnt cost much at all, it still works great. I would recomend this heater to anyone with a beginner aquatarium. It works awesome. The next aquarium i start, i will , with a 99% chance, use this heater again."

"I've had this heater for about 5 months. I have the 200 watt for my 40 gallon. At first it worked great but now that my house is colder because of the winter it wont heat past 70 degrees. My little fishes are cold- I'm going to buy a Marineland stealth submersible instead. Dont buy this, its bunk."

Horrible purchase Date: February 27, 2007
"I have had this heater in my tank for less than 3 weeks. During a cleaning today I noticed that if I jiggled the cord it would turn on and off. When I took a closer look at, I found that the entire bottom section has completely melted away. This product was completely not worth the money and I'm glad it is within the time to return it!"

Hot water! Date: February 21, 2007
"The 150 watt heater, in my 29 gallon tank wouldn't shut off! I followed the directions, placed the top of the submersable heater about an inch below the water level, let it sit in the tank overnight, set it on the middle setting and then plugged it in. It heated the tank to over 88 F. I unplugged it, let the tank cool down to about 78 F, reset the heater to the LO setting and plugged it back in. It again heated the water to over 85 F. The light never went off so I removed it before the water boiled. Luckily, I have no fish in the new tank (it's cycling).
I am going to exchange this heater for an identical heater and will write a review on the new one.
It may just have some defect in the thermostat."
