"I've had a Penguin Filtration System for as long as I've had my tank (about 10 years). It's a good basic system for the money. Recently I had to purchase a filter replacement, so I bought this one. I would say it's average, sometimes it doesn't spin correctly. For the price it's a good deal but the product is just OK."

"Wow...I bought the thing, put it on my wheel, and it didn't work! It fell off, apparently the dang thing is too small. But its the exact same one for the model i have.

"The Bio Wheel is for the "beneficial" bacteria to grow on. This bacteria is proven best at removing toxic ammonia and nitrite. So black stuff on the Bio Wheel is the good stuff (beneficial bacteria).... JJ you don't want to clean that off."

"One of the worst filtration system ever. The bio-wheel may remove the debris and ammonia, however all that just stays on the wheel. Where does the ammonia go? I look at it as if you are filtering the water with more debris and ammonia. You can rinse the wheel but that does not remove the ammonia."
