"This product is true to it's size. It fits my dogs perfect. It also is a protectant against the sun without over heating them. I felt very secure in knowing that my dogs were safe while we were fishing on the boat. I knew that if they fell over board, which almost happened a few times, that they would float until we could get to them. Great product."

"My shih-tzu/bichon mix puppy loves to go swimming! This life vest helps me keep an eye on her, allows her to exercise but to relax if she gets tired, and also is easier to get her in and out of the water with the handles on top. It fits her perfectly and she doesn't mind wearing it at all!"

"I purchased this life jacket for my Chihuahua who weighs 4 lbs so I needed the tiny one. It fits him perfect and keeps him above water. It serves its purpose. I would recommend this life jacket for dogs. The handles on top come in handy also."

"My 8 month old basset hound loves the water but does not swim so well... the life jacket was perfect... a little difficult to get on at first but well worth it. The only complaint that I might have is that I followed the measuring instructions perfectly and her chest was 21" which is supposed to fit in a small... so maybe it's just the way that bassets are built, but she definitely needed a medium, so if you own a basset keep that in mind!"

"I have a tiny chiuaua. We have a big pool and she does know how to swim, but we were worried that she would just get tierd and drown. Now when I put her in the pool I don't have to worry about that. And scince we got her Fido Float she seems to enjoy our pool even more!"

Fido Float Life Jacket Fit

"I ordered a Fido Float life jacket for my 5 1/2 pound Chihuahua in size "Tiny", which is supposed to fit a 12-16" chest. My dog's chest measures 15" (with his sweater on), but the jacket was at least 2" too small to be able to zip it up. Even without the sweater, I couldn't get it zipped all the way up. So, I returned the life jacket to my nearest Petco store, and ordered an X-Small, which is on back order. This means that I had to forfeit the cost of shipping ($7.95), unfortunately. Hopefully, the larger jacket will arrive soon, and will fit. I don't think that I will order products online from Petco again."

"My dog (a pomeranian) has been going river rafting for 5 years and has actually owned two of these great swim aids. (he outgrew the first one) They are easy to put on, comfortable for him, and the handle on the back makes it more convenient for me. Fido float has actually saved my dog from drowning once when he was tossed from the boat in rough water and also makes him less likely to be snatched up by a bird of prey when he's on the water!! We never go rafting without it!!!!"

Not for bigger dogs

"I took my 4 yr old 75 pound Boxer into Petco and tried this vest on him (XL). It fit okay once I adjusted the straps but the zipper came open everytime he shook. You get what you pay for with this. It was similar to the cheap life vests you can buy for adults that fit over the neck. Not high quality and so long as you don't have a dog with a large neck you would be okay. My dog hated having it on because the portion near the neck was long enough that it covered 1/2 his neck. He continued to shake and couldn't wait to get it off."

huge design flaw

"I purchased this life vest for my pug, who cannot swim. It fit him perfectly! It was the cutest thing! The only problem we discovered was that after he had had his fun swimming around the lake with his golden and lab friends we saw huge sores in his armpits... We figured out the problem and it comes down to physics: The underside of the float is made of thick netting with two holes lined with nylon for his front legs to fit through. The top half is made of floatation material and zips up the top of his back. The top half, the float, wants to, well, float. Whileas his body is heavy and wants to sink. As gravity pulls his body down, and the float pulls up toward the surface of the water, the tension of those two forces fighting against one another cuts right into his armpits. As he swims about the nylon cutting into his armpits causes chafing and gave him huge sores!!! Fido Float needs to redesign the life vest to either add floatation material to the underside as well to alleviate the tension, or they need to not use arm holes and just have solid straps made of the same floatation material under the neck and chest."
