WONDERFUL AND SAFE PRODUCT

"I received this product as a gift along with my number one gift.. which was a rescue dog. My little dog is very comfortable in this product. I have only used it once when I went on vacation; but I always use this bag when I take her for rides. It is the most precious thing to see when I take the bag out and my little dog gets so excited because she knows that she will be going for a ride. These days you see so many people who take their dogs for rides and you see them on their laps.. and they think that it is cute... it is so unsafe not only for them but as well as the driver and others on the road due to the distraction of the dog wanting to look out the window. I have tried those pet carriers which look like car seats.. well not only does my dog try to get out of them because she wants to be by my side.. I just do not feel that they are the safest and most secure to have; and so I am thankful that this product is not only comfortable for my dog to relax in while we are on the road but that she is also safe."

"I use the carrier to take my cats to the vet, and this one they all want to get into. I have another carrier of a different brand that the cats do not like very much. They always choose this one for the comfort and it is very easy for me to carry!!"

It's a Good Carrier

"I bought two of these carriers when I moved me and my two cats accross the country. Both cats were about 15 lbs each. All in all, I think the carriers worked just fine. It is true that you have work a little to get the carrier properly situated under the seat. I flew on NW Air and on Delta and they fit in both. The zipper started to come undone (splitting apart) which scared the mess out of me in the airport, thank God my cats were sedated.
I used it for two cross country trips and for annual Vet visits and I think it's serves it purpose just fine. If I were to travel often with my pets, I would probably spend a little more money and get a sturdier carrier.
I saw where someone said that advertising the carrier with the Delta logo was misleading and that the carrier was expensive. In actuality, the carrier is very inexpensive considering the features and the quality and if you pay more attention to the labeling you will see that it's endorsed by Delta, not manufactured by them. They're an airline, remember?.
Definitely worth the $35 - 45."

Awesome cat carrier

"I purchased this carrier for my wild 14# Pixi Bob cat to fly on the plane with from Texas to California. The carrier held up awesome & fit perfect under the seat inside the Continental Airplane (both a small jet & large). My cat felt so secure he slept almost the entire trip without making a noise. I LOVED how private the carrier is. You cannot even tell you have an animal inside. I did take out the lining & replaced it with an absorbant pad that I purchased seperately. The pad worked perfect! My cat was inside this bag for a total of 9 hours and did fantastic!!"

"I own a 16lb. pug and have used this carrier for 6 round trips (lasting an average transit time of 5 hours).
Pros: In terms of design your pet can enter the travel bag in two ways (from the top or from the side). The side opening is a convenient feature, as during the flight I like to open it up for more air circulation. Having the "Delta" logo gives you & other airline employees assurance that your pet carrier meets the guidelines.
Cons: This pet carrier is Delta endorsed, and yet it does not properly fit underneath a Delta airline seat. It has to be "shoved" underneath. With an airline endorsed pet carrier, you would assume that the carrier fits, it does not. Also, on oneside of the carrier, there is mesh material for breathing. My pug has ripped through that.....leaving a few gapping holes on it.
I think it's time for another carrier. I will not be purchasing from Sherpa/Delta."

Delta Sherpa Bag

"I bought this carrier (I believe it's the large size) for my 10 1b. cat to travel on an international flight. The carrier was very difficult to get under the seat, I had to go under the seat in front of me (the seat I was placing the carrier under) to pull really hard in order to get it wedged in there. While the wire inserts keep structure to the bag and keep it sturdy, they make it very difficult to bend the bag to accomodate smaller spaces. Luckily, I asked to go on the plane early with the people needing assistance/people with kids, or I would've had a hard time crawling around getting the space to push and pull the carrier to fit under the seat. However, in defense of the product, my friend was told by Delta (I believe, don't quote me) that the height under the seat on their international flights is about an inch or 2 less than on a domestic flight. So, there may be problems with different carriers and different airlines depending on the space available under the seat, there is no perfect science to it.
My cat started to tear a hole in the mesh side right away which I was very unhappy about, the mesh side is made of a flexible plastic which my cat soon found to be a place to try to dig through. He is now plucking at the seem of the top zipper and has created a hole where the zipper was sewn to the bag.
We do though, use this bag very often, mostly for car trips. It is very roomy for him and the bag can be seat belted in the car or fits on the floor in the back seat. I absolutely love the privacy flaps at both ends. When we are walking through an area where we don't want people to know we have an animal with us, we roll down the 2 privacy flaps and no one even looks twice. It looks like a regular dueffel bag. The 3rd large ventilated size is airy but not so open that you can see the animal easily through it. We turn this side to us when we want to conceal the animal. Overall the design is made for being discrete which I really like.
I really like this bag, I just wish it would hold up to more wear and tear. I am going to try to fix the holes or have them fixed, if not I will soon have to get a new bag. I may or may not buy another Delta Sherpa Bag."

"The only problem I had with this carrier is that for a long flight (12 hrs) my cat eventually peed in the carrier and it is really hard to get the smell out of the carrier. It is harder to clean than I thought it would be. Otherwise, for short trips or trips to the vet, it's a great carrier and my cat loved sleeping in it when we had it out for him."

"I've had this carrier for a few years and Celi (my cat)loves its roominess and the private view she gets through the mesh windows. Unfortunately, it does not fit under plane seats and squishing it under has mis-shaped the metal inserts along the top sides of the carrier. I feel they should make it not as high, more sturdy and include wheels as either carrying it by hand or on the shoulder can become quite tiring if having to travel from one concourse to another in airports."

Great for traveling

"Whether this bag is accepted on every single airline is almost beside the point. Let's face it - airlines are increasingly encroaching on our own seating space and leg room, so it's no surprise that they'll give us a hard time with our pets. For those airliness where there is still underseat storage, this bag is great.
My bag has held up for several months under near constant use in the car, and it DID fit under the seat on a Northwest Airlines trip I took with my 10 lb. dog. The mesh sides are great.
Zippers on both ends of the bag would've been great, though, and the liner I've since replaced with a better slip-on cover."

"I purchased this carrier for our new Kitty. It's such a great design, very sleek, and feels very sturdy. I love the side vents that you can lift up or leave down (for privacy/or travel) It looks like it would definatly fit under the seat in front of you on a plain. Great, Useful Carrier for Animals...

"I use this carrier in my everyday use for my animals. They just like it much more rather than the plastic ones, since you can carry them right by your side. Also it has flaps on the side to let your cat or dog look out the sides and be able to enjoy the fresh air. It's a really nice carrier, I own 2 and they very easy to clean up spills in. I would recommend anyone to get this carrier."

Misleading

"Be careful, the word Delta in the name of the bag does not mean that it is produced by Delta airlines. I heard from a colleague who was planning on flying Delta with her cat that Delta told her the carrier was too big. We just bought the bag for our cat to fly in a month and have yet to check with Delta to see what they tell me. I boutgh the bag specifically because it had Delta in it's name, which was the airline we were planning on using. I would have definitely bought a cheaper bag. We may have to return it. The product name is VERY misleading. "

My cat chewed right through it!

"I have to warn cat owners that this soft-sided/mesh carrier can be a BIG problem if your cat objects to being in the carrier. I put my 11-lb cat inside and within 5 minutes he had torn a hole through the mesh on the front flap. He is not declawed but I cut his nails very short before I put him in there. Even if he was declawed, he easily tore the mesh with his teeth. I had to throw away the Sherpa and buy a hard-sided carrier (what a waste of $50). I guess this carrier would be appropriate for a small dog or easy-going cat who is indifferent to travel . . . just keep in mind the Sherpa is NOT very sturdy at all - it will not stand up to wear and tear. It may be cute, but save yourself some money and stress and invest in a sturdy, hard-sided carrier. "

Sherpa Deluxe Pet Carrier

"Recently returned from a trip with my dog. The bag was great and my dog was comfortable. I wish the carrier had wheels on the bottom so that it could be pulled rather than carried. Another nice touch would have been using leather instead of plastic on the handle, etc. Otherwise it was a very good carrier."
