Best e-collar I've ever used
Date: August 12, 2009
"I bought this for my Lab when she had a cut that she wouldn't stop licking. It works great and was never damaged from her banging into things. A couple places on the edge got a little dented, but that didn't make a difference. It's a lot more flexible than other plastic e-collars I've used, so my dog could sleep and lay down in it comfortably.
The only thing is that I think it could have a bit more padding - it only has a thin strip that I don't think really does anything for comfort. Also, one time it did come unsnapped when my dog hit a table running, but it only happened once."

Better safe than sorry...
Date: April 22, 2009
"Let's face it...there's just not gonna be an e-collar where most people can say "wow, this product is fantastic"! I choose this one over others because it gets the job done and is better than nothing. Circumstances that put a pet in an e-collar aren't great and they're gonna be uncomfortable no matter which you choose. I have one dog that did fine, and another that broke 3 in 2 days. I've also used on cats with varied results. No matter what e-collar you choose, just make sure it's fitted properly and you supervise your pet as much as possible."

fabulous!
Date: January 26, 2009
"Let me first start off by saying that I read ALL of the reviews before I purchased this but with no other other choice, I HAD to get it! That being said, I am glad I didn't listen to all the review. Although it may not have worked for others, it worked wonderfully for my 97 pound Swissie! Let me give you a picture of what happened. One night my two dogs (my 97lb Swissie & 115lb Lab) were playing outside. I went to let them in noticed blood on my Swissie. She had it everywhere and it was coming from her ear. With no luck stopping the blood we had to rush her to the nearest hospital to get stitched up. (she apparently caught her ear on a piece of fence!!!) They told me after 3 days I could remove the bandage and after one week the e-collar. Well after 5 days the e-collar that the vet gave her cracked and busted open, she started to bleed again so I immediately bandaged her up and ran out to PetCo, This collar has been on her for almost one month now and has held up to the two of my pups wrestling and playing outside TREMENDOUSLY!!!!!!!! I am so glad that it has worked out and if I ever needed it again, I know I will not hesitate to run and get another one!!!!!!"

A bad experience
Date: December 6, 2008
"Bought this at a Petco store last night for a 5 year old Chocolate Lab with a front paw infection. It lasted a little over 24 hours and now it has cracked all the way through just from the dog turning around and hitting a wall.
Perhaps someone with a dog with a different temperament or no walls in their house could have a good experience with this, but I would save my recommendation of this product for enemies and rivals."

e collar by Pet Botanics
Date: October 18, 2008
"This e-collar is completely worthless. The plastic will split upon impact. So my dog has been able to chew off her stitches, while I thought that she was safe and protected. The plastic is so stiff that anytime it gets impacted in any way it breaks. My e-collar has so much tape on it that the poor dog may as well be wearing a roll of duct tape. This is in a warm climate, I can only imagine what this plastic would do in cold temperatures. It would probably shatter."

E collar works great!
Date: June 25, 2008
"I was apprehensive when I read teh reviews of this e collar but it worked just great for my Anatolian shepherd mix. It appeared comfortable around the neck and he never unsnapped it. I bought XXLarge to make sure he couldn't chew past it or aruond it as my Lab had done when she was wearing an E collar. The price was a bit high to me since it's essentially a piece of plastic with clips."

Too short to work for our sheltie
Date: June 24, 2008
"We bought the correct size based on her neck measurement, but it isn't nearly long enough. She is still able to chew her injured paw. Might be more helpful if they would provide the length measurement as well as the neck circumference for each size."

Good for a normal dog.
Date: March 11, 2008
"My dog is not so smart so he kept running into things and cracked the collar but after taping it up a bit it worked well. Probably wouldn't be an issue with a normal dog. Don't get me wrong, I love my dog. I've just accepted him for who he is."

Wonderful!!
Date: March 10, 2008
"Wonderful product! I can easily put it on and off. My dog was more relaxed with this clear collar. The vet gave me one that caused tunnel vision. I highly recomend this product."

Horrible Product!
Date: January 8, 2008
"I bought this product hoping that it would help my chow's vision while wearing an e-collar, (The vet's collar gave her tunnel vision). It started out wonderful! She could see and she felt a lot better. But the problem is that I brought this home last night at around 8:00pm and she already broke it! She broke it at 9:00am this morning! The collar barely lasted 12 hours... She walked by me, it caught on my leg and snapped in half! I knew that it felt a little flimsy, but this is unexcusable."

Design flaws limit a good product
Date: December 5, 2007
"After reading the many negative reviews, I went to the local Petco store and looked at the Pet botanics e-Collar. The design appeared sensible and the material durable. Unfortunately, the product is not properly sized and thus does not allow it to protect my dog from biting himself. This product is not designed for dogs with long noses (from a marketing perspective, this is a significant limitation). I bought the product that was sized 14" to 21" because my collie's neck was 14" in circumference. This appeared to be a logical thing to do, but his nose extended well beyond the front of the e-collar.
Today, I returned to Petco and replaced the original e-collar with one that was sized from 21" to 25" in neck circumference. Right, this new e-collar adjusted to the smallest size just slips over his head and falls off again. On the other hand, the e-collar is long enough to prevent him from biting any part of his body. The solution to the extra large neck size problem was to use plastic zip-ties to secure the oversize collar to his own leather collar. This is not an elegant solution, but it does appear to work.
Doesn't it seem sensible for the manufacturer of this product to just punch a few more holes in this XXL plastic e-collar so that it will meet the needs of dogs with long noses and smaller neck size?
On the positive side, although my collie does not like wearing the E-Collar, it is light in weight, easy to clean, easy to install, and appeared to be holding up well after 4 days of constant use.
In summary, this is a good concept for a product, but with some very significant design flaws in the sizing of the product.
I would recommend this product to a friend, but with some very serious cautionary comments. The accompanying photo shows how the (unhappy) collie's nose extends well beyond the edge of the original e-collar."

Cheaper than another vet visit
Date: October 26, 2007
"but not the best product. First one broke after 5 days, second one after four days. Yes, the dog does run into doorways, the furniture, the walls, our legs, and I know they can't make the plastic too pliable, but thought the product would last longer. We still have at least another week before the stitches are out. Limited choices in my area, so may have to buy yet another (or try the homemade version- a bucket!)"

Use Vet's Collar
Date: October 20, 2007
"I bought this after the ProCollar didn't work. However I think this company tries to make them more appealing and less functional. I believe they have made them slimmer and shorter. By doing that it does not prevent the dog from licking/biting/chewing at itself. I tried two diferent sizes of these neither of which worked for my beagle. The only thing I liked about this product was the ease of applying it and the clarity of it. I also liked the fact that it was lined along the neckline for added comfort. This product may work for some but not for all. The bitter gels/sprays don't even work for my dog."

"My big black lab just had surgery a week ago and this collar held up nicely during his recuperation. Sure, he ran into things but it never broke. Take it from a big dog lover, buy this collar for your dog or even cat."

Worked Fine For Me
Date: July 27, 2007
"I purchased one of these E-collars from my local Petco to keep my dog from licking at his stitches after being neutered. Even though he bumped into a lot of things, it held up perfectly and did it's job. Never cracked, broke, the snaps never came undone, and it never even bent. I still have it today incase I ever need it for anything again, and it's in perfect condition. Great product, would buy again, and recommend them over the vet's e-collars."

Not worth it
Date: March 9, 2007
"We bought this last week to help keep our German Shepherd from licking his back leg. He bumped into a chair the first day and it split in two! There is going to be some bumping around as a pet gets used to this and it should be able to handle reasonable use. I felt like I wasted $14.99, not to mention I need to get a handle on his licking and it didn't help."

DESTROYED in 3 days
Date: February 13, 2007
"My dog is far from destructive and within a few days of buying this, it is completely destroyed. I broke it twice on day 2 and on day three, after duct taping it twice, it finally broke to the point where it can no longer be used. Do not buy this collar"

worst e collar ever
Date: August 30, 2006
"i bought this e collar two days ago to help my dog out with his allergies. the e collar plastic has already cracked and parts of it now have gaps where the plastic broke off completely. that was the worst 14 bucks i have ever spent, and a complete waste. i now need to go to the vet to purchase a new and better quality product."
