"I used to feed zupreem mixed with TF baby and was very happy with my decision. I like that both foods have over 40% protein. I've done some research on ferrets' natural diet (as in, if you fed them chicks and mice), and they would be eating about 50 to 60% protein in that case. Their diet would be mostly protein, followed closely by fat, and very little carbs/fiber. So, zupreem sounds great, right? Wrong. I did some further research recently because I was thinking about adding Innova Evo ferret to my kibble mix. I found out that it's only about 15% carbs, and TF baby is only around 6% carbs. Limiting carbs is really important to me as I am worried about the link between carbs and insulinoma later in life. I'd rather spend more money on good food now and save money on vet bills when they're old (not to mention, save my fuzzies the suffering of that terrible disease). I realized that I did not know the carb content in Zupreem. I found a website that estimates carb contents based on the ingredient lists in kibble, and it appears that zupreem is around 30% carbs. That is way too high for me, so unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this food to others. I know the price is great, and so is the protein and fat content, but I just can't feed this to my furkids in good conscience anymore. The good news is, they enjoy the IE as much as they did the zupreem, so they don't mind the switch. If you can afford it, I would recommend trying to find a lower carb food for your furkids. However, if it's all you can afford, I feel that zupreem is a much better quality food than many, e.g. Marshalls (which is actually a better mink diet) or cat foods, etc. Even high quality kitten foods (iams, science diet, etc) are high carb (because cats need carbs, ferret don't), so I would feed zupreem over those as well. If you must feed zupreem, perhaps try to supplement their diet with more protein to offset it, e.g. make a "soup" once a day out of warm, wet kibble and chicken or turkey baby food to up the protein content. I do this for my kids anyways, as a treat =)."
