I tried this product since it was less expensive than most other flea-killing shampoos. I was surprised to see how well it worked. Like the scent and the aloe conditioner, but the scent fades in a day or two, leaving the cats smelling slightly of the pesticide in this product. I too discovered that some fleas managed to live through the shampoo and were apparently attempting to escape during the dry-off process. They were moving slowly enough that I could capture them and drop them into the toilet. Product states 5-minute soak time, perhaps longer is needed for long haired cats? Unfortunately, it does not appear to repel fleas; the cats and I went outside for a short time (less than 10 mins), and the next day, there were some fleas on them.

I used the hartz ultra guard flea and tick shampoo today. Its not the conditoning one but its about the same.I noticed the fleas started to die and fall off right away. When I started to dry my cat I noticed there were still fleas on him, alive and kicking! I pulled off about 25 of them and had alot more alive in the towels I used to dry him.I plann to wash him again and let it sit longer and see if that works.I am glad it killed some of them but if only one female is still alive it dose no good. Maybe they need to re-think how long to let it sit!

i like this shampoo. the first time it didn't kill them but i don't think i left it on long enough. i washed my cat again and left it on for ten minutes instead of the recommended five minutes and it killed them all. haven't seen anymore yet, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed! also made my cat smell nice :)

I noticed about a week or two ago my 4 month old kitten had a flea so I decided to get this shampoo thinking it'll be easy to kill the fleas. The first time we gave Izzy a bath with this shampoo we left it on for 5 minutes as directed. I dried him off and still saw he had the flea. I tried again 2 days later after discovering a 2nd flea. I was concerned it wasn't working until I discovered one dead flea in the sudsy water. The 2nd flea was hard to get rid of so I put on a little more shampoo where the flea was and seemed to be more effective. Within 30 seconds the other flea was dead. And it also leaves a tiny bit of a scent on the coat.
