"we used to live in an apartment and any noise in the hallway or from neighbors would make my dog bark. when i first got it, it worked great. after awhile, the refills got a bit expensive. and when the battery ran out, i had a hard time finding the correct battery size for replacement. by the time i replaced the battery a week later. my dog wasnt afraid of it anymore. he would then bark until the citronella ran out."

"We purchased this to help our dog stop barking when in our yard. We have been using it faithfully for two weeks now, and while it has reduced the barking some, he will still bark with it on. We are going to give it a few more weeks in hopes that he will start to realize the connection between his barking and the spray happening, but if it does not work we will switch to the shock collar."

"It's on sale for a reason! I've had two of them now and they both broke within two weeks. When my dog barks the spray keeps on spraying until it runs out and the battery dies. Don't waste your money! The Petco stores don't even carry them anymore."

"I have a small dog with separation anxiety. She is not a big barker, except at night when I'm not there. Even an hour turns into a howl fest. The citronella collar totally solved the problem. The problem is that the first one I got didn't work at all. The replacement worked about 5 times, clogged up, and barely worked. One day it miraculously recovered, and now it is totally defunct. Kind of expensive for such a short life."

Not safe for use when unsupervised

"I bought this collar when my lab puppy was 6 months old and had discovered he had a voice and used it 24/7. He would bark consistantly during car rides, from the second the engine turned on to the second it turned off. I couldn't take him in the car because of this. i tried everything else with no avail. This item was recommended. My dog is 1 1/2 years old and I have gone through 6, yes 6, bark collars because they continue to malfunction. Customer services is excellent when you call Premier, they always sent me a new one for free when I tell them it broke and I send the broken one back. However, a few times, he has worn it and a small whimper will set it off and it's malfunctioned to the point where it was a continuous spray when he didn't do anything. Therefore I would never ever leave this on when I am not home or right next to him. He wears it in the car, and then I have a home bark control box that I use for when I'm not home. Overall it does the job when it works, but breaks very easily. Customer service WILL help you however."

"It hasn't turned my dog into a bark-free dog, however, when it's full of citronella and the battery isn't dead, Max sure doesn't bark with it on. When it's out of spray and the battery is dead (which happens frequently unfortunately) he just starts barking right back up again, after he realizes that he won't get sprayed.
I love this collar though. Short of a voice box removal, this keeps the house quiet!"

"I read the mixed reviews on this product. It would either work, or not. For me, it worked. I have a stubborn Dachshund/Terrier mix that would bark constantly when someone came to our front door, when we were getting ready to go out, and when it was time for her dinner. The very first time it was on, it was one and done. She now barks once, gets sprayed and gets quiet. So I would recommend you buy it and try it...if it doesn't work, return it. That's what's good about places like Petco."

"I bought this to use on my maltese who barks incessantly. For hours on end. I put the collar on him, and he still barked. I thought the collar was broken until I put the collar near my face and imitated his high pitched bark myself. Still no spray. Then I imitated my Rotweiler's deep bark. The unit sprayed me! Very effective, so now I do not bark, but my maltese still does. Can you find a way to tweak the microphone of these units so that they will properly respond to a higher pitched dog's bark?"

"I bought collars for my 2 young terriers who barked constantly. These collars have made a huge difference in just a few weeks. Even when the dogs are not wearing them, they bark less and are much more receptive to a verbal correction. I am completely satisfied with this product. Works great for those who have a large yard and cannot get to the dog immediately to make the correction for barking."

"I was frantic having to make a decision to find a product that would work and keep my complaining neighbor happy. I did not like the idea of using a shock on my dog so I decided to use this product. The first one did not work but the store happily exchanged it. The new one works and my neighbor and my dog seem to be happy. That makes me happy. Problem solved!"

"I live in a apartment complex and i have a miniature dachshund who would bark all the time when I was gone. As a result i was on the verge of getting evicted because he was barking so much. So I had to take action and i bought the Spray Bark Control Collar and It worked wonders! My dog stopped barking after having it on for only minutes! However, the collar did stop working after a few months and I emailed Premier and I sent the defective one to them they fixed it and sent it right back to me and it stopped working only after a few days so i emailed them again and they overnighted me 2 brand new collars!"

"I purchased my first one about 6 months ago and it didn't work right out of the box. I exchanged it and the second collar quit working within a couple months. I bought another collar for my second dog and a replacement battery for the old collar. The brand new collar didn't work and the old collar didn't work with the new battery. These collars are unpredictable and I would recommend something else. Don't waste your time or money."

"Thought this might be a good, humane way to go for one of my dogs, and I know it works for some people. Well, it didn't work in his case! Hard to tell if he thought the smell was unpleasant, or if his face getting wet bothered him or if the spritz sound was a problem for him...once he realized what was activating the spray he barked & barked until he was soaked and canister was empty!"

"When we first got the collar we loved it and it worked immediately. Once the batteries ran out (very quickly-like less than a month) it went downhill from there. They require a battery size that is very hard to find elsewhere and is $8-9 at Petco. We have almost spent as much in batteries as we did the collar. I am already looking into a new collar which is crazy after we spent $60-70 on this one."

"Well, we thought we had a FANTASTIC product, but unfortunately, our lab mix finally became immune to it. He barks as soon as he's outside for 2 minutes - MAJOR seperation anxiety. Even after batteries were replaced, it was working properly, and he smelled strongly like citronella, unfortunately, he didn't care anymore. It looks like we're going to have to go to a shock collar :(. I would have rated it 3 paws because I know it did work, and if our dog wasn't so stubborn, it definitely would have been a life saver, but I don't like how quickly it wore through batteries - so 2 paws is the most I could give it."

"I have three dogs. My maltese and mini schnauzer are the barkers. The german shephard just looks at them with wonder. We bought two collars for the little dogs. First, it would take about four to five barks before the spray would release. By that point our dogs had no idea what the cause of the spray was. Also, for small dogs it is very difficult to fit properly around their necks. Thankfully, Petco allowed us to return the collars so no harm. =)"
