GREAT for RATS too

"I bought one for my lone (for now) female rat. She lives in a tank cage so I like for her to have plenty of things to do. At first I just propped it against the side of the cage, but it fell over all the time (duh smooth glass sides) She chewed most of the bottom rung. Then I devised a way to hang it from the top of the cage using paper clips because the hooks are too large for the tiny wire mesh. Morgan has discontinued the chewing on the rungs because she LOVES to swing from the ladder. She goes up and down often. Her new tank mate Duke has also learned to love climing and it has been a great tool in his social training. I am back to buy one for my large male rat einstein. I am sure he will love it as well. BUY this cheap toy for your rat they will thank you."

"I bought the 18" ladder for my lovebird's cage, so that he had something more to climb on then the cage bars. He will use it to get from his upper perches to his lower perch, and vice versa. I was worried he wouldn't go near it, but saw him making use of it. Definitely a good buy."

"Another item that my cockateils use, trust & like. They climb up & down all during the day. From 7am to 7pm two are allowed out of their homes (my other one is blind and comes out on my shoulders through out the day, She uses other Petco products inside her home)"

"I bought one of these for my cockatiel and 3 for my rats and everyone has so much fun with these ladders. I like how they just hook onto the wire cages and you can turn the hooks so you can basically hang it almost anyway you would like. This is made for birds but I would not limit their uses to just birds. My 4 ratties love it as much as my bird does."

"I had two "male" gerbils that turned into five (we gave away the others) and they had a two level cage. Peanut, the mother, constantly chewed on the ladder, so we had to throw it away after they all died. A few years later, we decided to get gerbils again and put them in the old cage. But we had no way for them to get to the top level, so we bought this ladder and now the cage is perfect again! I hope Felix and Cecil love their new (but old) cage!"

"I got this for my 2 rattie girls and they love it! Its very easy for them to climb and, although they are avid baby chewers, the ladder has been withstanding.
I would certainly dish out to replace if they ever destroy it (as rats do) and recommend it to any other rat owners."

"My conure loves to redecorate his cage so I like to give him things he can move around. This ladder is great, but I did remove the hooks. For one thing, they don't help it to stay put, and they made it hard for him to move it around. Without the hooks, he is safer and he can put his ladder wherever he needs to."

Not Only For Birds!

"Okay, so this is a bit weird, but it works. I use these for my rats and they LOVE them. I have 3 18 inch ones and 2 smaller ones. Instead of the wire steps that hurt their feet, I decided to use these ladders and their feet don't look sore anymore. They don't chew on them, but they do hang off of them...kind of like birds would :) I use them as steps for the different levels in their cage as well as steps to get in and out of their hammocks. Before they weren't able to use their hammocks because they were too high up. I would definitely recommend these to people who have birds and that have rats. An excellent deal!"

7 step wood ladder

"My conure, Willie, loves to chew and goes through a ladder a week. The soft wood is great for him and keeps him entertained for hours. He runs up and down until it is all chewed up, then looks longingly at me to put another one in his cage. Willie is 15 but I don't know how long we've been buying these wonderful ladders from PETCO.
