Not so bad!
Date: November 2, 2008
"I actually think this food is good; my hermit crabs love it! :D I feed them veggies as well occasionally, but they like the pellets. :) I've never noticed a bad smell, either! Just make sure you change the food daily (to minimize wasting it, you can give them not too many a day (as much as they usually eat) & change it daily. :] Good food!"

"The hermit crabs like it. It's pretty healthy for them but the food gets soggy from water. It's ok."

"we had hermit crabs as class pets and we feed them two kinds of foods and one of them was zoo med hermit crab food and it did have a harsh smell yet they did like it
but I would not recomend it because you have to smash
it up before you give it to them and that makes a pretty
big mess.

nasty smell
Date: December 13, 2005
"Only a few of my 31 crabs were even vaguely interested in this food. Those few tried it and then moved on to something better. It smelled really strong and nasty! It was not even a fish smell but rather a poop smell. I couldn't even stay in the same room after I gave it to the crabs. I will buy another container eventually just to see if I got a bad batch. If that is the case I will write another review. I also don't like the directions: "one teaspoon of food per hermit crab" That is 31 teaspoons for my 31 hermit crabs. That is a waste even if it was their favorite food! "Place hermit crab on top of food"
and then they say to give the crab 5 minutes to start eating! Most crabs, even the super friendly ones, aren't going to hang around where you place them. Their instinct is to hide. Plus, most crabs eat while we sleep so that is unfair to expect them to eat at that moment and then remove after 2 hours. I guess eventually if you follow these directions the crabs will be so hungry that the directions work. "slightly dampen crab and food (with warm water)" There is no mention of the need for declorinated water. I have no idea why they think a damp crab will eat. At least they do say "Please note that hermit crabs eat very slowly and very small amounts per feeding". You certainly couldn't guess this from the directions!!
