"I used a pair of Paw Tectors on my German Shorthair Pointer this past weekend in Baja, Mexico, chasing quail up and down mountainsides (over sharp rocks and decomposed granite) and through plenty of rough terrain (including with prickly pear cactus and cholla--the toughest cactus of all, aptly nicknamed jumping cactus). I was skeptical at first--having tried every kind of booty in the past, from plain ol' Cordura nylon to pig skin and steerhide. While a remain a fan of pig skin booties for the Baja, I was surprised to see that the Paw Tectors lasted a full day, with no serious cuts and no apparent punctures. Cordura booties typically last no more than a day and offer no protection against cholla cactus. The leather booties last much longer, but aren't as comfortable as these new Paw Tectors. I returned to the store after the trip to buy several more pair--for my other dogs. This is a good product that does the job. I'm a solid fan. For those customers that couldn't keep them on their dogs, take a tip used on hunting dogs--we use duct tape over the booty, after initially fastening them with the velcro hook/loop fastners(being careful not to duct tape against the dog's hair--just duct tape the booty itself, tight, but not so tight as to cut off circulation). Advise for improving this booty--use fatter velcro strip secured to the booty, The little velcro strip that comes with the booty is pretty wimpy--compared to the otherwise very durable product."
