Great Investment
Date: October 23, 2009
"My husband and I live way out in the country, but cannot let our dog run loose because of our "lovely neighbors"!! She is a 5 year old Basset Hound who loves everyone and everyone in the neighborhood loves her except for the ones next door! We didn't want to punish our dog by keeping her in a fenced in pen all the time, so we bought this in-ground fence system. It has been wonderful! It was easy to install....a little rough on the knees though because of having to push the wire into the trench by hand while down on your knees! BUT it was well worth it in the end! It was also easy to train our dog. It only took a few days for her to get the hang of things, and now she is much happier being able to run freely! It has made things much nicer for us too. I would buy another one in a heartbeat!"

Not a DYI project!

"I pride myself on doing electrical things, but this actually requires a professional to install it. I don't have the means to drill a hole thru my house and dig up the driveway... It said this was simple...yeah for a licensed professional."

Excellent buy
Date: October 13, 2009
"My little pomeranian was digging himself out of our yard and we finally decided to give the electric fence a try. Well we put up out the fence and he got shocked once and hasnt tried going near our old fence since! We have a 10lb pomeranian and a 50lb husky and it works on both of them. Its such a relief to know they cant get out of the back yard. It was pretty simple to set up and works just fine! Really good price for this fence!"

Expectations exceeded

"This is really a great product. Got it at a good price here while on sale, too. It was a bit time consuming to get installed (I had about 600+ feet to install). After I got a system going it went pretty fast though. Overall I got it done in a few days doing about 2 or 3 hours a day. I'd say, honestly about 10 hours of labor. I did end up buying 500ft of a heavier gauge wire from a home supply store for 20 bucks. It's a little more durable which made installation a bit more worry-free. Getting it running was a piece of cake. Plug it in and it's good to go! As for training, wow! The video and print training guides are very good. I will say though, my very excitable Lab/Shepard mix learned very quickly. I admit that I had my doubts about this type of restraint. But I tried it out on myself first and although it feels weird, there was no pain. Then my dog experienced it and it only took a few times (like 2 or 3) along with me "explaining" the flags and boundaries to him and he got it! He did great right from the first few days. We still train, but I feel confident after just a week. I'd recommend it to anyone. Take your time and install it right and also take your time to properly train your dog. The result will be more freedom for your dog and for you."

wonderful
Date: September 12, 2009
"This is easy to install and works wonderful. It took me 4.5 hours to install. This is the same fence that invisible fence sells for 1250.00. I paid 200.00 through Petco. This cost savings made me very happy. Our boxer puppy is adapting to the new fence. The training is easy, due to the DVD video. My wife and I our very happy with this product."

Works great
Date: August 23, 2009
"The fence works great. Dog learned it in minutes. Labor intensive to install but well worth it. I bought the deluxe system with lightening protection built in. I highly recommend getting separate heavy duty protection, since my transmitter was fried by lightening 6 days after install. Under warranty, company great about replacement."

No more complaining neighbors
Date: January 12, 2009
"My dog, Charlie, is a 1 year old very stubborn mutt who loves to chew. We live in a subdivision with many close neighbors. We had to tie him out because he is a very curious (AKA destructive) puppy. We finally got tired of him being tied and reluctantly bought the underground fence. We really thought our dog would be too stubborn and the money would be wasted. My husband buried the wire and trained Charlie within a couple of days. It was amazing how quickly he learned the boundaries. After the first couple of "corrections", he has only gone to the boundary once when playing with my nephew. He quickly retreated to the "safe" area when he heard the beep-no correction required. Charlie is able to roam the entire backyard now with no fear of him leaving. I highly recommend this fence to those of you with a "curious" dog. This was probably the best money I have ever spent."

waste of money
Date: April 23, 2008
"we bought this containment system about a year and a half ago for our 2 dogs. The collars go off for no reason when the dogs are in the house and when they are outside half the time it doesn't work. we wasted a lot of money on this and are very disappointed. we have been through 5 collars total. 2 for one dog, three for the other. the collars dont last long and tend to malfunction. we are now shopping for inground fencing because the radio fence just doesnt work."

Best babysitter around
Date: March 5, 2008
"I would recommend this fence to anyone owning a dog or multiple dogs. I have three pugs and they go to the fence line and that's it. It took them once or twice to get "shocked" and that was it. It is the best $200 ever spent. I never have to worry about them leaving the property."

We love it!
Date: February 10, 2008
"Before we got a PetSafe Radio Fence, our Lab was hurt badly, from running off into the woods. She needed multiple painful/expensive surgeries. This "fence" is great! Now she can't get herself into any trouble because if she tries to run beyond her boundaries she gets harmlessly shocked. We can now leave her out to play unsupervised with no worries of her getting hurt again!
Although the boundaries of this system are limited, it should be very ample coverage for an average family lot. I feel very confident in recommending this product!
**Please remember to take the time to train your dog to RUN HOME if she gets shocked! She needs to know it will turn off if she runs home. If not trained, they may run away from the house and get shocked longer.

Good, but high maintenance
Date: August 11, 2007
"I purchased this system a few years ago, and when it works, it works very well! However, it is highly susceptible to lightning storms killing the sending unit, and if you do an above ground installation is is susceptible to rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, you name it- chewiing the wire in half! That means three or four times a year I have to go trudging through the woods behid my house looking for the broken wire and fixing it. I have had to replace the sending unit at least annually as well."

Humane but firm pet control
Date: April 10, 2007
"Dogs will be dogs and mine had already chewed the ac unit wires as well as the gate opener wires before I decided to try this radio fence system. I was able to install it in an afternoon. I found it easier to highlight the underground radio wire using some yellow string rather than the flags that come with this system. My dog soon associated the yellow string to a "correction" and within a week I was able to remove the yellow string. The great thing about this system is that before a "correction" is applied the receiver issues a beeping warning. My dog very quickly learned to move back from the fence boundary on hearing the beeps and therefore almost always now avoids the "correction"."
