WARNING:Get the vacuum out! Date: June 20, 2009
"I had purchased a few of these for my cats and for some reason hadn't taken the last one out of the cupboard. Now I remember why. I have to vacuum up at least 2 hands full of debris every day. EVERY day! Although the cats love it, it is horribly messy and I would NOT recommend it!"

"Not my favorite because it seems to make more of a mess than any other scratcher I have bought. The cardboard pieces are everywhere from my cats scratching at it. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. But it does serve it's purpose as a a cat scratcher and they do seem to like it!"

"When I first bought this,T-bone would only sit on it,and the other 2 cats stayed clear of it for almost 2 weeks.
They have all finally figured out what to do with it now,and seem to enjoy it every time they go by.
Something so simple and yet a rug saver for my house."

Effective but a bit messy Date: February 13, 2008
"The cats still scratch the furniture a bit but not as much as before these cardboard scratchers. They don't like this version as much as the Turbo Scratcher (no longer available at Petco) but they do stop and use this scratcher many times throughout the day. My only issue with this scratcher is the mess it leaves - shredded cardboard everywhere. The Turbo Scratcher seems better designed to hold the shredded cardboard within the edges and the cats love playing with the ball included in the Turbo version. Also, the Turbo Scratcher had refills available while this version doesn't. I'd give 5 paws for the Turbo Scratcher - it has a fun factor for the cats (in the middle of the night I've heard the cats making the ball go round and round), it's much easier to clean up the shredded cardboard, and it has refills which really keep the cost down."

"Great for anyone who's tired of their cats scratching up their furniture and carpets, but wants a nice inexpensive scratcher, instead of a huge one that costs a lot. It took my cats a little while to figure it out, but now they love it and every time they walk past it, they stop to scratch it! They also love "hugging" it and scratching it when they're playful."

Amazing! Date: November 1, 2007
"Such a simple product...and so effective! In the past my previous cats almost destroyed my sofas. I had to upholster the sofas three times! I purchased dozens of scratching products to no avail... With very little prompting and training our new kitty scratches the Claw Pal in the AM upon waking and every time after eating. We encourage him, of course, with treats so that he will continue this fantastic behavior. Since he scratches rather vigorously, I hope that as he grows his weight will continue to keep the pad in place. This product works for us! Good luck to all!"

"My kitties are big fans of cardboard cat scratchers. However, they liked this one a little less than some of the others. I think it might have something to do with the catnip. It's more finely ground and doesn't smell as strong as the catnip usually found in other cardboard cat scratchers."

"As soon as I pulled this thing out of the box, my cat started to get really interested. I sprinkled a little bit of the included catnip on it, and she immediately jumped on top and started scratching like it was going out of style. She was in heaven! My one complaint is that the cardboard box was slipping all over the place on the wood floors-- she soon figured out that if she climbed completely on top of the scratcher, her body weight would keep it in place-- so it would be better with some kind of nonslip bottom. But really, this is a huge hit, and I'm planning to buy at least one more for another room. Highly recommended!"

"My kitty absolutely loved this scratcher. She was interested in it as I was opening it. She used it immediately and then laid on top of it for a while, and that was before I put the catnip on it. she has not scratched on the furniture since she got her scratcher. I have recommended it to a friend who bought the sisal and her cat ignores it. Excellent product."

"We have 6 cats and four of them are declawed and the other two aren't. The ones with claws have really worked this over and has been a great saver on my sofa. As for the other 4, they have the same enjoyment as they use it just to massage their tootsies! We have had two of them and yes they get the catnip treatment to make it all the more appealing."

"I had seen cardboard scratchers before, but I always thought, "Why should I pay that much for plain old cardboard??" I was WAY wrong! My cats, young and old, love this thing! They have scratched and scratched and there's still a lot of life left in the scratcher. Only one thing could improve this product: if it came with a person who vacuumed up all the little pieces of cardboard that the cats scratch off onto the carpet!! That would be lovely!"

"Its amazing that this is the only place my cat will scratch! She used to love the furniture but now that there's one of these scratchers on each floor, she won't touch anything else. None of her carpet scratchers have been effective at all. We've had this one for months now and completely gotten rid of all of the others."

"My cat scratches and sleeps on this product. Add a little catnip and he's all over it. He loves this thing. This is cardboard so it does need to be replaced every few months."
