"I have only used Instant Ocean in my aquarium since I started my saltwater aquarium. I have done research on the types of salt used and Instant Ocean had the best feedback. When I make water changes there is no need to make ph adjustments. Great Product"

It does it's job.... Date: December 16, 2007
"Like the other reviews have said, the direction of the mix does not match and you would end up with a higher salinity content, but people should check it with a refractometer instead of a hydrometer anyway since it give you a more accurate reading. Start by mixing in small amounts and then work your way up. I was making around 13g of water last night so I dump in small amount until I reach 1.020 then another cup did the trick up to 1.024"

"i think that this is a good overall product, use it on all of my salt water tanks. I can however point out two bad things about this product. the first is previously stated that the instructions have given me problems with high salinity, but thats no big deal you just go by trial and error. The second problem i have found with this product is the salt seems to set the waters ph at around 7.8 instead of 8.3, but once again not a very big deal, just use a buffer 8). On the other hand, this product is affordable, dissolves fast, and leaves water crystal clear and fish inverts and corals happy."

"We have a reef tank and we only use Instant Ocean. I have heard arguments for other brands, but Instant Ocean works great for us. Our parameters are stable and everything in our tank is healthy, so we must be doing something right!"

"I have always used this salt for my Marine Aquarium and my fish thrive. I did encounter the same problem as the other review on the website though, use a hydrometer to measure your salt rather than the instructions on the box, the box instructions cause very high salinity in the water."

Inaccurate Directions Date: March 13, 2006
"I think the price is good, and the quality seems to be amazing. No seperation, and very quick dissolving. Unfortunately, the directions provided gave me quite a high salinity! The directions say 1/2 cup of salt per gallon. I have a 29 gallon tank and I started with 13 cups of salt. I didn't measure until after two days when the water had reached the appropriate temp and all salt would have been dissolved. (New Tank Setup). The Salinity was almost 1.07! That is measuring three times with an Instant Ocean brand Hydrometer. I do recommend this product, but be very careful when mixing your water, because I don't think the directions are accurate."
