"This hood works as well as the hoods for larger tanks. It is a bit snug and I had to bend and take off the strip in the back so it would fit down inside the rim of the aquarium or the lid would not close properly. The strip is made to remove or leave in place as is the cutout for the filter and heater."

"This is the first time I have ordered from Petco online and I can say I definitely will be making a return visit. I placed the order on a Monday and it arrived the Wednesday following...great service!!
The hood perfectly fit our 29-gallon fish tank and definitely improved its' overall look. The perforated openings were easy to punch out with the help of a regular screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Great product!!"

Not what the Box Claims

"I bought this product in my local store. The outside of the box very clearly states that it is for certain gallon aquariums and that the length is 36". Upon getting it home and trying it out, it was only 35". I looked at the information inside and it said that it fits on the inside lip of a 36" tank. That's fine and dandy, if all tanks throughout history were manufactured by the same company and with the same design. Guess what...they're not. My tank, being a bit older, does not have the inner lip. Perhaps the company might want to put that information on the outside of the box in the future instead of assuming that their product is one size fits all."

"If you have live plants, you may want to change the bulbs, but overall they are great hoods. There aren't any open holes left in the top after fitting the filter, which is good for jumping fish. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that you have to saw the pieces off the back for your filter and heater. It would be easy to damage the hood if you aren't careful. Perfect hoods for my 55 gallon."

"I recently purchased one of these hoods, and it meets all the expectations. It fits, it does not flicker (though it did a little on the first day)it is easy to lift the lid and feed fish, there are cut outs on the back, and it lights my aquarium beautifully."

"I purchased a 29 gallon kit with this light it Has the top of the line florescent Aqua Glo bulb that gives off a purple-ish tint to the water it brings out the bright colors in fish, decorations, and plants. It also helps live plants get nutrients they need to survive. I have had the kit for about a week and I have another 29 gallon that i have had since 1996 and it still has the original bulb, starter, and power switch you can not go wrong with this beautiful light! it comes in three pieces from the company 1. Light 2.Cover with breakable plastic pieces on the back to accomadate any filter, airline valve, or anything else you can think of 3.door which you simply attach to the hinges on the cover. I would reccomend this hood and light combo to anyone!"

"We bought the 10 gallon deluxe kit that contains this part. Lasted a little more than a month before it blew the bulb. Replaced the bulb and it still doesn't work. 10 year old very disappointed. Bought a new one (no manufacturer warranty info and past 30 day Petco warranty.) Working with All-Glass now for a refund on the purchase of the new fixture. We'll see how it goes."

"They deliver the light to your tank, and it is very convenient to just lift the top open and feed your fish or work on the tank. The main problem is that it doesn't deliver enough light for most freshwater plants or marine corals. But if you have a fish only tank, these are great."

There are better hoods

"I have a fish tank made by the same company that makes this hood but the hood did not sit right on the fish tank. I was honestly afraid that it could potentially fall into the water. The light was very weak and was a BLUE/PURPLE color not WHITE. I have a perfecto hood which I love. It is much better made and so much brighter. It is a little harder to set up in order to fit your tank perfectly but I have never felt like it would fall into the water if pushed the right way because it is so sturdy. I will be returning this product and buying a perfecto fluorescent hood!"

Ok so far...

"I've had two of these hoods for about a month. Aside from some slight flickering early on, which corrected itself after I turned off the light for a night, I've had no problems. Maybe it doesn't burn out until the third month. I'm happy with my purchase, and if the bulbs do burn out, it'll be easy enough to replace the strip lights. At least I'll already have a canopy that causes no problems at all.
I plan to buy two more hoods for a new tank I just bought. Let's hope my good luck continues!"

"The only thing I don't like about this hood, is that the bulb is a 24" and not a 36" like you would think. If the product information would have said what size bulb comes with this unit, I wouldn't have bought it. So I feel I was misled."

"In less than nine months the light died, so I went and bought another bulb, which died three days later, and another, which died again. I found out it was probably the starter, so I bought one, and in the process of taking the light apart to put in the new starter, I found out it was irreplaceable. So I'm also in the process of buying a new one, plus I wasted like $40 on lightbulbs that were ruined by the system."

"I recently bought the delux fluorescent hood for my 20 gallon aquarium. I have only had this product for about 3 months and the light quit working. I tried buying a new bulb, but it still wouldn't work. I later found out that it is the transmitter that went bad and it cannot be replaced. So now I have to buy a new light and I will not be buying one though this company again."
