Worth The Price For The Product
Date: October 4, 2009
"I have searched for many filters to accommodate my 2 turtles in helping to keep their tank clean and this is the best so far.It really does intake all of the loose particles that float in the tank as well as their skin since they do shed alot.It also keeps the tank clean from their other secretions. The sponge filter shows this when you take it off and rinse it.I'd recommend this filter but also invest in another one filter that has carbon as well to help keep it even cleaner."

"had this filter for 3+ years and am now just looking for a replacement sponge. The filter is still going strong in my 70 gal tank with 4 turtles. I do have a 2nd filter, a whisper 60 power filter, but the penguin does most of the filtering..."

Awesome filter
Date: August 26, 2007
"I've had one of these filters in my turtle tank for the past 4 years, and it just broke down today. It's such an awesome filter. It keeps the water clean and clear, and I'm gonna buy another one and hope it lasts another 4 years."

The *only* filter for large turtles
Date: September 17, 2006
"I have been using this filter for years. We tried several others
over a period of several months, this was the only one that
could keep up with amount of waste generated by our turtle.
I have also noticed it in many pet store tanks. A plus is that
it is easy to clean. Remove it from the tank and take it to a
hose or bathtub, take it apart and wash everything, wash out
the sponge, put it back together and put it back in the tank.
It takes about 10 minutes. We have to replace ours once or twice
a year, because the motor seems to burn out. That is my only
complaint. But it's possible it would last longer if we cleaned
it more often.
