"Within the last week we went into our local PETCO and purchased a small female rat named Lucy. We also bought most of our supplies from PETCO, including this product. When we got home we set up Lucy's new habitat with no trouble. The water bottle was easy to install, but within an hour we noticed that it was leaking uncontrollably. We checked it to insure that it was tight, but it still continued to leak. Later we decided to tighten it more, which only made matters worse. Instead of leaking, no water would come out at all. After a few days of this we decided it's time to get a new water bottle. My conclusion for this review is that though this product is easy to install, it comes with more complications then your money's worth."

"I had this water bottle for 5 years now for all my hamsters. My hamster i currently have is pretty big and likes to gnaw on things but that water bottle is still working and only has one little chew on it so it is really sturdy and I would recomend this product to everybody"

"This is too small for a larger animal, but it works great for my little mouse! It hangs in her cage great and it doesn't leak at all. It isn't climb proof like it says, but that's ok. My lil mouse enjoys climbing it too."

"This water bottle is terrific! Gnaw proof and climb proof. Easy to refill and hang. Doesn't take up much space. I gave it 4 stars only because it does leak a little, but no big deal. We have it on the upper level of the rats home and they will go down to the bottom every once and a while and use the occasional leaky drips as a bath. It is so cute!
My mother has rats as well and has gone through several other brands. I told her about this one and the occasional drip is not near the pain as replacing the bottles because they chew them up. She will never us any other kind."

"This is the water bottle that a worker recommended, but it leaks, not all the time, but some of the time, and it pretty much only has a paper-clip to hold it to the cage, so it is very annoying to change. I wouldn't recommended it to anyone."

Leaks like Crazy

"I got this water bottle for my rats with no success. I tried everything to create a decent vaccum seal for it by filling it to the top and squeezing a little through the tube, but to know avail. All the water leaked out in a matter of hours and I had to rechange my rats bedding. Very dissapointing, I don't recommend it at all."

"My friend and I both wanted a hamster.
So we got 1.When we bought the cage it came with a water bottle that my hamsters didnt get.So we went out and bought the Quick Quench water bottle.They love it. The one thing i think they should change is trying to fit in the cage that came with a water bottle and being able to put the Quick Quench in its spot like i tried. But it didnt work. But over all i love this and i wouldnt change anything. This is my favorite water bottle and it will last a life time."

A Reliable Water Bottle

"I used this bottle for YEARS. Literally used it with all my hamsters, and I've had four (each at a different period). Thats probably about eight or so years. No, it's not your usual attach-it-to-the-side-of-the-cage water bottle, and I like that.
I noticed that one of the reviewers mentioned that when he or she hung the bottle, it fell straight to the ground. Well, if properly hung, it will never do this. Mine didn't, and all I did was use a twisty wire (the kinds that you can get for free in the produce section of the grocery store) to attach it to the top of the cage. I changed the twisty wire twice.
Also, it doesn't weigh a half pound when filled with water. Although I agree it's not the kind of thing you want to be dropping on your hamster regardless, ultimately, when secured properly, it wont.
It's also incredibly easy to fill, never gets stale, and is very easy for the hamster to use (when at the right height). Occasionally a drop or so of water will fall out immediately after the hamster takes a good drink, but other than that, it doesn't drip.
The two componants are well made, and fit together perfectly. There is a little strip of a rubber like material that binds the two pieces together, furthur securing the water inside the bottle.
Also, the plastic never fades into a mucky yellowish color. In my eight years of owning this great water bottle, it stayed a beautiful clear and red.
All in all, I would definately recommend this product to people who are willing to access their common sense when using it."

"This is not a good water bottle for a small animal. I bought one of these, thinking it looked pretty neat, for a dwarf hamster who was pregnant. When I hung it from the cage, though, it fell straight to the ground. After that, there was no way I was going to let her use it. When full, I'd guess this bottle weighs a good half pound or so - much more than the hamster. I think this is really too dangerous to use for a small pet...it might be okay for someone larger like a guinea pig, large rat, or chinchilla. I also did not like the hanging mechanism - the little hole at the top, through which you thread a wire that is supposed to carry the weight of the bottle, does not seem stable."

"When I first got this product it was leaking a little in my gerbils? cage. My sister used it for her gerbils and it leaked all over the cage. So we had to throw it out. Now she uses a SuperPet Critter Canteen."
