"When I laid this down my cat was more interested in the toy. I Then started to place it in front of the couch where she scratches. It took her 3 days before she started to use it. The problem with this product is if you have a big cat it will move on them when they try to scratch. And it could be longer since cats like to Stretch out, That is why they like the couch so much they can stretch and it wont move on them no matter how much weight they put on it. She still tries to use it but I believe it has not fallen over on her yet, comes close. Once that happens a cat will probably never return to that product and it can join the cat scatchers graveyard I have going on. Overall this is a good product as it captures a cats attention I just think its made for a kitten rather than a full grown cat."

"I have purchased every high price scratcher around and my cat never touched them. After reading the reviews on this, I figured I didn't have anything to lose but really didn't think it would work.
My cat was all over this as soon as I came in the door! I had to work around her to take the plastic off and that was before I even opened the catnip! She loves her scratcher and even gets mad when anyone goes near it! I wish I had known about this sooner, I would have literally saved hundreds of dollars on useless cat scratchers."

"This scratcher is excellent. The angle is great because as all cat lovers know cats love to stretch and scratch. I have a few scrathers in my house placed by the furniture so instead of scratching the furniture my cat scratches these."

"I bought this product 2 weeks ago and although my cat liked playing with the ball in the little hole she didnt scratch on it at all. Since it was fairly inexpensive it wasnt a big deal that she didnt really use it, but all of the sudden yesterday I noticed she was using it. I've noticed her several times today using it as well. It took a little time, but she loves it! I am very happy with my purchase!"

"My cats love love love this! Its great because when it wears out you can flip the cardboard so one insert lasts a while and the new inserts are really cheap since its just cardboard. The love swatting at the toy in the hidey-hole too. A great buy especially if you can't afford a high priced scratcher but need to save your furniture and carpet."

"Our family has had cats all of our lives and we just love the Cosmic Catnip Alpine Scratcher! We currently have 2 cats and when we put catnip on the scratcher, they have a stare down to see who will scratch first. Cats will use these scratchers instead of using furniture and that saves money in the long run! I highly recommend this scratcher to anyone who owns or plans to own a cat. When friends or family get a new cat we always give them one for a welcome gift!"

"My cat has a thing for cardboard and we can't leave any boxes in his reach or he'll shred them. So he loves the Cosmic Scratcher. It looks as though he takes out all his frustrations on it. The only downside of course is that we have pieces of cardboard all over the room now but we like it very much."

Great Cat-Scratch Training Aid

"We have 5 cats who we've refused to declaw. Over the years they have shredded our living room furniture, and our lack of success in trying to train them not to claw at the furniture has been limited at best. We bought 3 of the Alpine scratchers, along with squirt bottles, and prepared an empty soda can with a marble, as per all of the online sites that address cat scratching. After laying out the Alpine Scratchers, the cats lost all interest in furniture, and we haven't had to use the squirt bottle or noisy can once. As a result, we took the ultimate step of faith and (finally!) bought a new living room set. The cats (each of whom we love dearly) continue to leave the furniture alone, going only for the Alpine Scratchers. I'm truly amazed that this product works according to its hype! This is worth every penny!"

"This is my 4 yr. old cat's first scratcher and from the moment I laid it down, she was hooked. Though she is sometimes still drawn to my sofa, her primary interest is this scratcher. The only problem is that one side is almost worn out already."

"This is the most amazing and ingenious scratcher ever devised for a cat! I have been through them all: the posts with carpet on them, the sisal door-hangers, the kitty-condos, even the "scratch here" sprays and anti-scratch here sprays, and NOTHING tops these inexpensive, clever little Alpine scratchers! My cats LOVE them and they haven't touched my furniture since!
One caution, though! Beware of "generic" refills! I bought a pair one time and the cardboard was horribly dusty, coated in some kind of stiffener gunk that irritated my cat's paws, and came with non-Cosmic catnip (a stingy little packet of something herbal that had no smell.) Only buy the refills if they have the genuine Cosmic Catnip packet in them!"
