Wind Test
Date: June 6, 2008
"We live in a very.. err.. windy area. I got something like this, different design, but same concept. It was back in March. Well, em.. I got a wind test. I needed to test it in a storm, and a week later we had a storm. A big one. So big, it had enough energy to produce several tornados. One hit my house, and bet this can be found in the bottom of a pound... probably 10 feet underwater. Well, I'll get another one. I liked it.. when it lasted."

Good, not Great
Date: April 20, 2008
"I do like this feeder, however......it is rather small and the medium sized birds, such as cardinals, have a hard time hanging on. The squirrels also have a hard time hanging on, which is a good thing. It serves the purpose for the low price, but personally, I like the larger version with the 12 ports."

Great Inexpensive Feeder
Date: November 27, 2006
"I own many bird feeders both plastic and wood. I have three of this model and the birds flock to them. They are easy to clean and hold a week's worth of seed. The top twists off for loading food.
The steel cable on my feeders has worked fine though I see another reviewer has one break...mine haven't.
The only mild flaw is that the top is sometimes difficult to seat correctly when putting it back on, but it only takes a little patience and then it locks in place.
For those that have trouble with squirrels in their feeders, I have found that if I provide some food for the squirrels (I like the sweet corn logs) they leave my bird feeders alone!"

My original feeder
Date: February 8, 2006
"This was the first feeder I bought 8 years ago. Nothing fancy about it, but it works fine. It holds a lot of feed, and is easy to clean. I usually drill a few more drainage holes in the base. I'm buying 2 more today, so obviously I recommend this basic feeder. I've never had problems with the top loop breaking, by the way."

Birds Love It, But...
Date: November 26, 2005
"I bought this feeder because it is very inexpensive. I never had one before and wanted to see if I could attract wild birds to my yard without making a large initial investment.
Although the hanging cable is made of steel, the hanging loop is not very secure. I thought it seemed a bit flimsy and so twisted/reinforced the entire hanging cable with coated garden wire and made a new loop. Good thing I did -- within a few days - and a squirrel may be responsible for this - I discovered that the original loop had separated from its clamp and was broken. The feeder now hangs from the garden wire loop I made. If I hadn't done that, the feeder would have been on the ground.
Otherwise, the feeder, though inexpensive, is very popular with the birds. I have counted 2 red-bellied woodpeckers, a mated pair of cardinals, and an assortment of blue jays and red-winged blackbirds throughout the course of the day, not to mention the doves who can't manage to land on the feeder, but have figured out that there's plenty to find UNDER it as a result of the messy jays and woodpeckers! The squirrel has also figured out that it's easier to graze under the feeder than to get to the feeder itself."
