Great filter!
Date: January 22, 2008
"I've been keeping fish for a long time and have gone through many different filter brands. AquaClears are my favorites, by far. I use one for almost every tank including my marine aquarium.
They are quiet, easy to take apart and put back together, and offer complete filtration...biological, chemical, and mechanical.
It's almost like having a canister filter but smaller and cheaper.
Attached is an old picture of my marine hermit crab, Big Red. The tank has been running with an AquaClear for over a year."

Best Filters Ever Used
Date: January 22, 2008
"I've had 3 Hagen AquaClear powerfilters in three various sizes (10-30; 30-50; 50-70). After about 15 years of aquarium keeping, I've used filters from Whisper, Eclipse, and Marineland. These are by far, the best filters I've ever used. The separate filter components allows me to personalize the filter to my use. For my freshwater aquariums, I can use the filter sponge, carbon, and biomax biological filtration component. For my saltwater aquarium, I can remove the carbon and double-up the biological filtration component to maximize nitrification."

"I recently purchased the Aquaclear 110 and am very satisfied! I am using this filter on a 55 gallon marine tank and it is very powerfull. It not only circulates the water but as far is filtering is concerned it one of the best filters I ever bought and I have been into fishkeeping for about 28 years. I highly recomend this filter!!"

"i have a 40 gallon tank, this tank is my first and you can hardly hear it. it was kind of hard to put everything together. it is a very small filter becaust most of it is on the other side of the tank. works good but it is not good to put close to plants it will tear the leavs of and cloug the filter."

worst filter ever
Date: May 30, 2007
"i curently have a 10 gallon tank. i bought this filter because the petco that i go to stoped carying the refils for the filter that i courently have. whin i got this one it had cracks in it. one of the cracks than it had was at least 2 inches long. it had a teribl leek. it seams poorely designed so my advice is to not by this product at all. i wont everyone to learn from my mistackes. i am sure that a lot of them will break very quickely. it is a pain to set up. there are about a million different parts that have to be in the right spot for it to work properly. i do not think that it is worth the hassel of trying to go throu with it all. there are a lot of little things that you have to by for it each of them cost about 2 dollars. you have to replace them about every 2 weekes to every mouth. i can emagin that it can get pritty expensive very fast. this would not be a good choise for someone on a budget."

This really works!!!!
Date: May 20, 2007
"I have a tank that holds goldfish that have moved indoors from the pond. I have never, until this filter, been able to keep a clear tank. Goldfish are such messy fish with huge amonia problems, and yet, with this filter,I have a sparkling clean tank with no trace of a bad odor!!!!!!!!
I will buy this brand again!!

"This is a great filter...I got this new filter because the one i got before was so loud that i wasn't able to sleep at night. Because my tank is in my room i was in desperate need of a quiet filter. I made my way to my local Petco and bought the 40-70 gallon model. It is the quietest filter I've had yet. It is also keeping my tank crystal clear; which is a hard job with 7 Riyuku gold fish."

Impressive Filter, Limited Surface Area.
Date: May 6, 2007
"I first bought a Aqua Clear 20 and put that on a 10 gallon. I liked the concept of the filtration system it uses. One thing I over looked was the amount of surface area there is. Its about half or less the common whisper filters. Which was a thumbs down for me.
I then decided to buy another filter for my 30 gallon, this time I decided to get the Aqua Clear 110 which flows 500GPH. Overkill for a 30 gallon but I turned it down which also refilters the water in the filter many times and puts out just enough GPH for the tank. Surface area is huge and when putting a 50 micron scrubing pad in, water turns crystal clear within a couple hours.
I would also reccomend putting the biomax third inline after the scrubbing pads to make sure they are underwater for maximum bacteria coverage. Carbon can go on top if you use it."

Excellent Product
Date: March 16, 2007
"Being a new fish tank hobbyist I bought an aquaclear 50 gallon filter. It works awesome. It keeps the water clear and stays quiet. I was so impressed I bought a second one. With both of them the quality of the water stays maintained. Definitely would recommend this to anyone who's going to set up an aquarium."

AquaClear30
Date: February 18, 2007
"I have had the AquaClear 30 running in my 10g tank for about 2 months, some what of an over stocked tank (as of 2/18/07) The first 2-3 weeks I didn't see much change in the water clearity but after the benifical bacteria established itself the water was pretty clear, not crystal but just below that . I have about 15-18 inches of fish in the 10g (4 fish: 2 Cichilids about 2-3 inches each and 2 Plecos, one about 8 inches and the other about 4) The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it's in a 10g made for a 30g tank and the water intake suction isn't that great. *Tip for everyone new to the aquarium game is always go for over filitration, if you have a 10g like I do don't get the Aquclear 10 get 30 or higher, much easier on you, it'll have bigger filter media and more of it so you won't have to do as much matiance, just your regular water changes and minor gravel cleaning. Other then that it has a controlable flow control (great to turn down when feeding floating food) and 3 kinds of filter media, the sponge at the bottom collects a massive amount of debris (found this out today when I took it out to clean it) DO NOT LIFT UP THE MEDIA BASKET WHILE THE FILTER IS RUNNING!! EVERYTHING THE SPONGE COLLECTED WILL GET PUSHED RIGHT BACK INTO THE TANK!!! (found that out the hard way today =[ Also has carbon and BioMax for the good-guy bacteria. Very good product 2 thumbs up!"

*outstanding*
Date: October 27, 2006
"I have had this filtration system for over a year and I am still amazed at how clean it keeps my 100 gallon tank. It is suprisingly quiet. The maintance it simple and clean up is a snap. The filter media is very flexable, alowing you to change between ammonia remover or activated carbon. If you have a large tank with a variety of fish, I highly recommend this filter to you."

Running Since 1988
Date: August 8, 2006
"I've been a fish hobbyist since I was 12 years old and after I was finally fed up with undergravel filters and passive air stone filters, I bought an Aquaclear for one of my tanks. Since then I've purchased heavy duty canister filters, bio-wheel filters, powerhead filtration, submersible filtration, and multiple brands of each. The submersible filter and the Aquaclear filters I've purchases are still going, all made by Hagen. Over the years (after about 10) they get a bit noisier but they are still effective. I've used aquaclear models from each generation and they all work great. The designs get easier to use and more flexible as far as media content are concerned. The design is also much easier to clean than other designs. I can start and finish cleanup in about 5 minutes. My old canisters would take me about 45 minutes, due to desludging the impellers and putting vaseline on the motor structure as the manufacturer reccomends. I also had to oil the motor every few months. Active filtration that hangs on the side of the tank is by far the most reliable and easiest filtration to take care of and while other brands that I've used did work well for about 6 years or so, Hagen's products have outlasted them all, even after storage for a few years in the middle their lives."

Wonderful Powerfilter
Date: August 4, 2006
"This powerfilter is by far the best quality machine that i have ever used. The adjustable flow rate is a good feature if you want the filter media to work to it's fullest. It keeps my water crystal clear. I have used many other brands of powerfilter, none can compare."

Great!! WARNING!
Date: July 31, 2006
"Its good works great. Its very powerful and it uses three stages of filtration so it cleans better. I have like 16 fish in a 10gallon tank and it is VERY clean because of this filter. Heres a WARNING, get a SURGE PROTECTOR!! If your power go out with this on, it will mess up completely and you will need a new one, so get a surge protector first."
