"Carefresh may be a bit more expensive but it is about the safest litter for Guinea Pigs. There are no aromatic oils like cedar and pine which damage their lungs. Also, it is soft on their fragile feet. I also like that it is recovered wood pulp so no additional trees are killed to make it."

"This a terrific substrate for a variety of animals: I am a keeper of rosy boas (and used to breed them); using this in vivaria for desert type snakes yields excellent results as it affords both traction and burrowing capability. Baby rosy boas in particular need that sense of security to feed well and grow. I have not personally kept sand boas, but I would not be surprised if they did well on Carefresh: sand is heavy, abrasive to snakes and messy to change out. Note: Carefresh is very absorbant & can have a drying effect: it should therefore not be used for pets that require high tropical humidity."

"I use this for my 2 guinea pigs....wow what a difference before with other wood shaved bedding i had to clean the cage everyday due to the odor. Since i've been using the carefresh i clean it every other day but not because of odor just because it needs to be cleaned. LoVE iT"

"The bedding is big chunks- the chunks are absorbent and are hard to clean when wet. It's hard to scoop out- harder than shavings. It stinks so horribly when wet it stinks up a whole room. I bought the 60 L bag, which lastest 1 and a half months. I do not like this bedding. My guinea pigs also have an easy way to throw out the bedding like confetti. I am now out, so I am planning to use non-pine or cedar wood shavings or Calci-Sand."

"I use this bedding for all 5 of our guinea pigs. My husband has asthma and it doesn't seem to bother him like some other products like wood chips. In order to keep the cost down I mix it with confetti shredded newspaper. Works Great and Very absorbent. Great to keep down the smell too!"

"We have been using carefresh bedding for years now. It has very little dust and only when you first put it down. It is very absorbent and requires less frequent changing than aspen shavings. Never use pine shavings... the oils are toxic to most animals."

"I've tried just about every type of litter on the market. So far, this one works the best at eliminating odor. It's a little expensive though, and doesn't work miracles. You do still need to clean the cage regularly or you will smell it. Definitely worth the price (plus it goes on sale frequently)"

"I've been using this bedding for my hamsters for years and it's fantastic. It hardly smells at all, is very absorbent, and it just all around wonderful. It's pretty inexpensive as well. This is the only bedding I will use for my small animals. My gerbil loves it also."

"This is one of the few beddings I would reccomend for small animals. It's rather expensive though, but totally safe. It contains no oils, phenols, and it wont expand in your pets stomach if ingested. If I had a bigger budget I would use it or all my small animals."

"I have a 8 month old hamster, and he likes the Carefresh bedding. It almost never sticks to him, but it needs changed very often, and gets stinky, and when the cage is stinky, the hamster is to so that means that the hamster is stinky and I don't like to play with stinky hamsters. Overall I think it is a mildly good purchase."

"I have had a rabbit for over six years and started with pine bedding. I will never go back. Carefresh controls the odor and lasts longer in the cage. People rarely notice that I have a rabbit when they come into my house. It's a bit more money, but totally worth it!"

"carefresh isn't the best with odor within two day's i couldn't take the smell! and it's very expensive, i'd give it "5 paws" as a base to aspen or kiln dried pine but as just a bedding i'd give it "2 paws" it's also very dusty."

"I gotta say, for how much bedding I go through a month this stuff hurts my wallet. It's expensive, but it's really worth it. It's easy to clean up. My rabbits love how soft it is compared to other stuff I've used. It doesn't stick to their stomachs and its hard to kick out of the cage. (which is great for me, I get sick of vaccuming)
