Not just for cichlids

"I've had great success using this food with lots of different fishes over the years. One shoal of tinfoil barbs (cyprinids, not cichlids) grew so large (as in 8 inches--I know, they're not supposed to get that big) I had to get rid of them. They had beautiful deep orange and black stripes on their tails, which lightened when they were cycled off this food and darkened when they were back on it."

is it edible?

"Perhaps I got an old bag or a bad batch, but my year old oscar was unable and unwilling to eat this. He would take it in his mouth and spit it out, opting to go without eating for a week over eating this. I was not even able to break a tiny piece off the pellets with my fingernails it was so hard. Perhaps if this is what he had been raised on it would be different, but I don't recommend switching to it when the pet store is out of your regular food ;)"

Get more for your money

"I have been feeding my fish Hakari for almost 10 years now...and I figure the food it what has kept it alive this long! Very economical and the bag is great for storage."
