Wanda and Cosmo's Goldfish's Mom

"I bought this last night for my 3 gallon goldfish bowl. Works great. I had a under gravel filter before that performed poorly.I have 2 goldfish and they're water tends to get cloudy quickly .I hooked this filter up to my already existing airater hose and it already was clearing the water an hour after I hooked it up. Good buy for those with goldfish and those with small tanks that need frequent water changes. It and it's replacement filters are inexpensive and disposable and great for small aquariums like mine . I am planning on going out and buying the replacement filters for it tonight to have on hand during my next water change."

Great Buy and Very Effective
Date: December 28, 2008
"I love this filter, it works great! It's pretty easy to set up. Just rinse off the fliter very well to get the carbon dust off. Then attach the filter with suction cups to the aquarium, cut the tubing and put the valve between the tubing connecting the pump and filter and that's all! You can tighten the valve so that the filter current isn't too high.
My betta loves the filter, as the current is pretty weak so it doesn't hurt his fins. The filter really does keep the water clear and healthy. The only fault with the filter is that you have to replace it every 2-4 weeks. But it's only about 5 bucks per replacment, and the filter's great. This is probably the best thing I've ever boughten from Petco.

Ideal

"This is way superior to the undergravel filter I used to have. The plastic fastener broke that holds the tube, but it still works. Once it stopped working for me, but all it needed was a good cleaning to get it going. It makes some noise, and filters that come with tanks are usually quieter. It also isn't a very good color and doesn't really complement my 2 gallon betta tank. If I could make the choice again, I would rather get a tank with a good built in filter rather than buy this, but it works. =)"

Penn Plax Smallworld Filters
Date: October 29, 2008
"These are excellent little filtering systems for small tanks. I use them on my 2 1/2 gallon hospital tank for injured fish or when I quarantine my new fish.
Don't want to hurt Penn Plax's business, they make awesome aquarium products. Just want to pass along to people that if you gently cut along the edge of the filter cartridges you can easily take off the back panel. Once inside you can clean the sponge material and add or replace the carbon. This will make the cartridges last indefinitely. Love Penn Plax and these refills are relatively cheap, but in this tough economy we all need to save where we can. GOOD LUCK!

perfect for shrimp
Date: July 15, 2008
"i got this from someone else that just didn't need it anymore. figured it would be perfect for the shrimp tank. if i use anything else they'll get sucked in. this is perfect. keeps things nice and clean in my 2.5 gallon tank.
only thing that bothered everyone else was the water sound. was fine with me since i have noises from other tanks going on in my bedroom and i love the sound :P"

Great filter, very quiet
Date: July 8, 2008
"This small filter is wonderful for low volume aquariums. Makes absolutley no noise if set up properly. Comes with regulator to control air flow (you will need to cut the tube that runs between the pump and the filter and insert the regulator there). If the bubbles make too much noise, simply lower the air flow. The pump itself will make noise if placed on or against something that will vibrate. If it makes noise, reposition the pump so that it is not touching anything it will vibrate against. I suggest that you still do a partial water change once a week, especially if you have a large number of fish in your small tank. Great filter, mine works wonders on my 4 gallon aquarium. If you need a filter for your small tank, I highly reccomend this one."

"I bought this filter, because it looked like itwould do good in my 2.5 gallon aquarium. I plugged it in, and wow... it started clearing up my water in minutes! Now my tank is perfectly clear, and i havn't changed the cartridge in a whole month! I would definetly reccomend
this to a friend. Theres a slight humming noise from the air bubbles, but you can't really hear it at all.

Great for goldfish bowls!
Date: February 3, 2008
"I bought this filter when I wanted to get a goldfish. I was worried that my goldfish wouldn't live very long if he was in a bowl with no filter. I have been using this for a couple of months now and I love it! The water is cloud free and my goldfish is doing very well. It is a little noisy because of the bubbles it makes and keeps me up sometimes but it's not horrible."

I am very impressed!
Date: December 30, 2007
"This filter is a very good, inexpensive filter that does the job well. The water in my betta tank has stayed crystal clear. It looks like I just cleaned the water. It does have a faint humming noise and some bubble noises, but they don't bother me at all. It is still easy to fall asleep at night. My betta seems to be fine with the filter too. Sometimes he investigates it or plays around in the bubble currents. Sometimes filters make way to many bubbles so it is hard to feed your fish, but this filter doesn't make too many bubbles at all. I would recommend this to a friend."

Great Filter
Date: November 4, 2007
"I've been using this filter with my 1 gallon betta tank for over a month now. It's kept the water very clean and clear. Yes it can be a little noisy but I've had it in my bedroom and I can still sleep. Overall, it's perfect for my betta because it doesn't create much of a strong water current. Just make sure that when you buy this filter, you have some air tubing and an air pump. These are essential because the filter won't work without them!"
