I have purchase several kinds of bird seed for my quaker parrot. A lot of the parrot and conure food have hard pellets that my bird will not or can not eat. Some cockatiel seed brands have too many sunflower seeds and again the pellets, and the small parrot food has the big colored pellets he will not eat along with corn he will not eat so a lot of the food is wasted. I have found that The Bonanza Gourmet seems to be my birdies favorite and he loves the squash seeds in it. There is non of the big pellets just taking up space in the bag of seed. I don't have a Petco in my town but there is one 50 miles away so I just order the food from them.
My brother who gave me my lovebirds was feeding them store brand bird seed. I knew they needed a better diet than that. I tried switching them to pellets, but they just dumped them in their water. Even mixing it with seeds or buying a brand that had seeds and vegetables or fruit pellets, they'd pick the pellets out and put them in their water. I knew they'd eat real fruit so I wanted something with real fruit chunks. At first they picked out just the seeds, being stubborn birds that they can be. But I just wouldn't give them more food until they ate it all, which they eventually did. Now they eat everything out of their bowl. I can even put other treats in their cage and they will eat them instead of ignoring them.
This is the only food my spoiled rotten 2 y/o, 2 oz Conure likes!!! We have tried others, but I keep coming back to this. If you have a Green Cheek (smaller) Conure, this combination has smaller seeds which makes it easier for a smaller bird. He loves it!
