Corn Syrup is not for cats

The old formula was 44% petrolatum, 47% malt syrup, 7% glycerine. Now the first ingredient is corn syrup. I can't use this new formula!

My older cat, in particular, has problems with hairballs and when I mix this with food he eats everything. PetroMalt is the only product I haven't had to force on him.

have used this product for years,my cat loved it. I thought it was spoiled when I bought a new tube because it was so runny. I forced my cat to take it and he threw up every time i made him take it. I just read where other cat owners are having the same problem. Please go back to the original formula. He needs it hei is a long haired cat. I even tried your Petco brand and he wouldn't even come near me when he smelled it. Please and thank you.

I have used this product for years. It works great but recently I have not been able to find the same product. What used to be a gel like substance that made it very easy to give my cats is now very liquid and almost impossible to give my cats. It gets everywhere on me and the cat. I really would like for them to change it back to the way it was. I have been loyal to this product and have no choice but to find a new hair ball remedy.

I would normally give this product 5 out 5 paws. But they have changed the formula and my cat won't eat it! You have to understand that normally she will lick and lick and lick up as much as I want to give her. She'd finish the bottle if I let her. But no more. She refuses to eat it. Refuses!
It appears that Petromalt has changed their formula and the number 1 ingredient is Corn Syrup. THAT makes sense because so many Carnivores crave sweets. Silly choice for this company to make. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT until they return it to the old formula. Trust me, you will just be wasting your money.

I have tried several brands of hairball medicine for my cats over the past 8 years, because hairballs have always been an issue for them. They HATE the taste of all of them. Including this one..... but this one works! My poor male kitty had been throwing up for over week and within 2 days of being force fed Petromalt, he managed to throw up a giant hairball and hasn't thrown up since!

Sentry Refund - changing formula back

My 20 year old cat always would beg me for Petromalt each night until they changed, without warning, the formula. It was not only more liquid and messier but my cat suddenly hated it. The only difference was the tube was slightly re-designed, more plastic. I called the 800 number on the label. They not only refunded my money for 3 family sized tubes but also sent me a free sample of the fish flavor which has gotten us throught the winter. They said that they had changed the formula and were working to remedy the problem and would have something back on the market by beginning of the year (2012). Don't know when exactly or how you'll be able to tell the new from the old, but at least they were listening to consumer complaints and taking action. Bravo!

After using this product for years, I was quite dismayed to find that the formula and ingredients of this product changed between my August, 2011 purchase and my November, 2011 purchase. There was no indication of a change on the box other than a new ingredient list which I only thought to consult after my cat who normally LOVES this product refused to touch it. I normally go through a 4 oz tube in 2 weeks, so I order 6 at a time. I plan to return the five that I did not open.

I became a kitty Momma in 1983 and ever since then all the cats I've had have received Petromalt for hariball issues on the advice of the first veterinarian to ever treat my first kitties. It works! Even my now 4 month old kittens will lick it right out of the tube! They fight each other for it! And my 14 year old cat loves it as well even though he is finicky on what he will eat. This product has withstood the test of time and still works just as well with my new kittens as it did with my first ones. I recommend it highly.

I had hairball issues with one of my cats, he seemed unable to eat without having furballs coming up. To my relief after one day of using Petromalt it seemed like he almost had a hairball but it subsided. Since then he has not had any signs of possible furballs and is able to eat whatever he wants, seems to be more playful, you have no idea how happy you've made my cats. Thank you so much

We adopted 2 1.5 year old kitties a few months ago. The girl started having hairball issues right away, despite her short hair (thick undercoat, though) and my Furminating. I began giving her Petromalt, and voila... no more hairballs. The other kitty gets just a little as well, so he won't be jealous--because they LOVE this stuff (but they're not the least bit picky about food).

I have 5 cats and 3 cats love this, 2 just like it.
They like the malt flavor. One cat crys for it every day! So, it varies between cats. The main reason that I buy it for them is, it makes their coats very, very soft. Personally when I pet my cat, I like the fur to be very soft.
