"Before getting the Sherpa carriers, my cats would be transported in hard plastic carriers. While I was carrying them, they would slide all over the place, even with a towel on the bottom of the carrier. The soft sided Sherpas are much more friendly and cause them less discomfort. They never like going to the vet, but these carriers seem to make them a bit more comfortable. I have two large ones and one medium now and will not go back to the plastic ones."

"i just bought this because I thought it was expensive and well-made. However, my 15-pound Shih tsu / Bichon mix puppy (tiny little teeth) was able to gnaw through the mesh on the side and chew a huge hole within 15 minutes of being in the bag. I tried to let him get used to being inside of it by giving him treats and leaving it on the floor and open in the room so he could crawl inside and nap when he wanted. Well he definitely did not want to be in this bag and was able to chew a huge hole with his tiny teeth in a matter of minutes. I guess more expensive doesn't really mean better quality!"

"I had borrowed a friend's Sherpa a few months ago and when another trip came up, I decided to buy my own. This dog carrier by Sherpa is better constructed than the one I had borrowed. I like the fact that it had mesh sides so my dog can see me at all times and the air circulation is so good. It is sturdy and is exactly what it represents itself to be."

"I bought the typical plastic carrier for my previous cats. They were cumbersome and a pain to use/hold. My kitten loves to sleep in it. She seems to think it's better than her "official" bed."

"I bought this 1.5 weeks ago to travel with a 3lb chihuahua. The overall look is good, and the straps are ok, but structurally this bag is terrible. Only the side of the bag with a door is rigid enough to stand up straight. The other side with no door caves in, giving the dog/cat the opportunity to chew and gnaw a hole right through the mesh and leather. Like I said, a 3 lb dog destroyed this bag in less than 2 weeks. I will never buy a Sherpa product again."

"These are the best! I was using the bulky plastic carriers and now i can throw a strap over each sholder and carrier my 15 and 18 lb cats with ease! Well contructed and I love the fact that they fold flat and take up relatively little space. They are great for cats because you can load and unload them through the front or the top if they are stubborn. Unfortunely though my cats think they are so great I can't put them away. They are constantly laying in them or fighting over them. I week after I bought my two, I purchased one for my mom and she loves it as well. Really worth the extra money, seems solid and should last a long time"

"This bag is roomy and comfortable for our 13 lbs. cat to be carried around in. He doesn't seem to be able to push the zippers open at all, but our other younger cat chewed a small hole in the mesh, which makes me wonder how easy it might be for a cat to eventually destroy the mesh. Our older cat had no interest in clawing his way out, though. And the shoulder strap makes it very easy to carry two carriers for our two cats at once. I would absolutely recommend this bag. There is a small zipper pouch on the 'back' side of the bag that can hold a leash or a harness."

"I recently purchased this bag and am very happy with it. A couple of minor points - the picture on the website shows brown leather trim, but the bag that I got does not have that. I don't care, but they should picture the actual bag that a customer will get! Second, I got the medium size for my 15 pound dog - says it's for dogs up to 16 pounds. It's a little on the small side, but that suits my purposes for the bag - mostly for use on the city subways. I have a roomier carrier on wheels that I use for train travel. So my advice is if you intend to use this bag for plane travel or extended amounts of time, I would order a size larger if your dog is near the max end of the range. That said, the bag is perfect for my use, seems well-made & comfortable for my dog!"

"My cats love this bag. We actually placed it on the floor in the kitchen so that they could get used to it, investigate it. One of my cats ended up regularly crawling into it to sleep or watch activity from a safe location. The other one loved lying on top of it; it made the perfect raised bed. Unfortunately, the frame didn't quite agree and on one side it's a little bent at the top. I can shift it back into place, but the wire is just a little weaker there now. My own fault, as I know it's not meant to have cats sleep on it, but at the same time, cats don't always follow the rules and I was glad to see them enjoying it. I should also mention my cats are supremely picky about what they sleep or rest on. As a bag, it's fine. I like the pockets and leather handle. I also think the wire frame gives the bag good shape, it's not caving down in the middle, even after my cat abused it. I only wish it had a flap to roll down on one side for additional privacy - the way the delta sherpa bag does. But I'm happy just to have my cats love one of their travel bags."

My little guy loves his Sherpa Bag

"I have owned 2 other bags for traveling & I personally found that the Origingal Sherpa's flexibile design fit more comfortably under an airplane seat. The mesh panels which are on three sides lets my pet see around and have the sense of security of knowing I am in site. The top entrance makes for easier accessibility when I need to take the little guy out when going through the security check point. I also found that the good sized pockets are great for carrying his traveling papers, treats, leash and a small container for water which are available to me at a moments notice. It apparently it so comfortable that when my pooch sees me take his bag out he gets really excited and will go into it without coaxing. He knows we are about to take another adventure and that he is not going to be left behind."
