"works perfect on a smaller 29gal but on a 100gal i would purchase 2, it's fairly quiet not too bad compared to the others"

"I have 5 tanks ranging from a 75 gal to a 10 gal. This is the only type of pump I have on any of my tanks. On the 75 I run 2 of them. I have had the 2 on the 75 for 9 yrs. No problems what so ever. Just clean them out once a month and replace the carbon once a yr."

"I've been using this filter for about 2 weeks now, and this has been the best filter puchase i have ever made! This filter has kept the aquarium very clean and that's before i switched over to the Micron filter. I just switch it to the Micron filter over the weekend, and now my turtle's tank looks like it just had all 55+ gallons changed out! This product is well worth the buy. I only wish that Marineland had extender tubing for the "outlet" port so it can reach under the water surface. however, it is able to turn in an angle so it wont splash so loud."

Why wont my water stay clear?

"Hi, Im fred the turtle and I've had this filter for about 2 weeks now. For the first few days it was fine for me but then the water started getting cloudy so I told my owner to clean the filter and then it was clear again. After another day my water started getting dirty again! I don't know why but the suction on the filter just seems to get worse day by day. All I want is clean water and Im going to ask my owner to do something about it! I think this filter might be okay for fish but Im a turtle! and i want my water clean! My tank isnt very big and I dont know why but I feel like im in a murky pond. I do not approve of this filter for my turtle habitat. Fred is dissatisfied."

"i have two vary messy turtles and when i bought this filter about a month and a half ago i sceptic well i still havn't had too clean the tank completely out just the filter once a week and swap out the water and the tank is perfectly clear. i love it!"

"I had a magum pro unit and bought this unit for a smaller tank, this unit cleans well and is easy to set up and clean although I wish I had bought the unit with the bio-wheel which is hard to find by itself. When the pro unit decides to die I will buy two hang on tank units for my larger tank these are much better and less bulky and as I mentioned easier to set up than the pro units."

"we have 5 turtles in a 100 gallon tank and bought this very filter 4 years ago and until a couple of days ago have have no problem. sure the turtles make a mess but the filter would always clean it up! it just started acting up in the last couple of days where the water flow was slowed tremendously so i checked all the gaskets and seals and all is good so I figue its served its time well and was a worthwhile investment"

"doesn't reliably maintain suction, requiring re-priming at least a few times a week. Sealing rings in cover need to be repositioned every time housing is opened. Overall, much more maintenance than I'd expected from the description I read and the price I paid!"

Magnum HOT 250 Filtration System

"We had one of these before and it has lasted about 15 years of hard use. Its easy to clean, it clears the water fast with the micron filter, and does not obstruct the view to our aquarium. Don't know why its on sale, but its a bargain for a great product."
