Bought One for the Baby's Nursery
Date: February 24, 2006
"I bought one for my baby's nursery and it fits perfectly in the middle of a bookshelf (a little over 6 feet tall). My husband 'fished' the electrical cords through a hole he drilled in the back. We raised the top shelf for access to the aquarium. My baby LOVES staring at the 5 guppies from his crib. Get one for YOUR baby's room!"

Absolutely wonderful
Date: April 23, 2009
"No matter what experience level of fish care you have, the Eclipse 6 is a wonderful tank. I currently have 2 Eclipse tanks, the 6 and the 12. My 6 gallon has been housing my Betta, Brutus, for the past 18 months. He absolutely loves his home. It's extremely easy to clean and care for. You can't even tell that the filter is running it's that quiet. Both of my Eclipse tanks are planted w/live plants. Because I have live plants, the only upgrade I made was the light. If I was using silk plants I wouldn't have changed the light. I use an AquaClear 25w heater and it keeps the tank a perfect 79 degrees F.
I am a huge fan of Eclipse freshwater tanks. They're aesthetically pleasing and a virtually maintenance free. The filters are always easy to find and even easier to replace."

Not as good as I'd hoped
Date: February 2, 2009
"I had this same brand of 5 gallon tank for awhile, and needed to replace it as plastic tanks apparently get etched by algae after several years. This one is easy to use, but it is very difficult to add food without making a mess. Also, the filtration system died after about 2 months. Because I had quite a few other things going on at the time, I didn't deal with it and now I've gotten back to that original problem of having an etched and green plastic tank. Because I like the style of the tank (minus the messy part), I'll probably buy the same one (at least it's on sale this week). Otherwise, it's a pretty good setup."

Waste of Money!!
Date: January 31, 2009
"The design is horrible, the open port opens right on top of the filter unit which makes cleaning or feeding much much more difficult, also my filter burnt out only after a week."

dissappointing
Date: January 17, 2009
"Had a Marineland Hex 5 for over 3 years and wanted something just a tad bigger for my 5 yr. old pink gourami, so didn't bother to check out this unit. Feeding is difficult with design of hood. The light tube burned out after 4 days, replacements ONLY available from Marineland at over $10 plus shipping. Sorry I threw box away after set up, it would have gone back."

Very nice small tank
Date: December 26, 2008
"The pros are: it is much less messy-looking than your typical tank - all the filtration equipment is built in to the hood. It also comes with a cord organizer which attaches to the back corner of the tank, which adds to the overall clean look. Additionally, it is acrylic, which is very durable (though you can still scratch it).
The cons are: if you plan on keeping tropical fish in it (and I wouldn't really recommend keeping goldfish in here - they'll grow out of this 6 gallon), you will have to buy a heater, since it is not already built in to the system. Secondly, the way the hood is set up makes it difficult to feed without dumping some flakes into the filter itself. Additionally, for any aquarium maintenance you will have to take off the full hood, which is slightly annoying (but only enough for me to knock off one star).
Buy it, it's a great value and very cute to boot. However, if you have more space available, you might just want to upgrade to a bigger tank. For a few extra dollars, you can get the standard 10-gallon glass starter tank (not as attractive, but more gallons = more fish!). If not, you'll still be satisfied with this tank!"

Great starter tank!
Date: February 6, 2008
"We bought this tank for our youngest son since he wanted his "own" fishies. Very easy to set up and maintain. Cleaning it is a bit of a hassle since you have to remove the whole hood but other than that, it's a great buy.
We've enjoyed it very much!"

A good beginner aquarium
Date: February 6, 2008
"I have had this little aquarium for nearly 3 years now and really enjoy it. I put a few small tropical fish in it and they are all still going strong. I wouldn't recommend putting goldfish in it like the picture shows, its too small for that, but for a few little danios or dwarf platies, its a great little aquarium. I've also found that between the light and the filter, it heats itself so I didn't need to add a heater. The only problem with that is it gets a little too hot in the summer, but I found that if I leave the top lid open, it helps keep the water cooler. All in all, this is a great little tank for beginner enthusiasts or those who do not have the time or space for a larger tank."

GREAT PRODUCT!
Date: January 28, 2008
"I just love this aquarium! It's the perfect size for a beginner like myself. I've had this product for 6 months already and I am very satisfied with it. The biowheel is still going strong and it does an excellent job at filtering. I strongly suggest you purchase this product if you are looking to have a reliable aquarium."

Satisfied
Date: January 23, 2008
"I purchased this a few months ago and I am pretty satisfied with it. The acrylic definitely looks better than glass and the lighting is great. The filter is sufficient and it is a good product for new hobbyists that can't keep big aquariums. The only downside to this is the small opening... in order to feed the fish, you need to drop food in the small opening. If you have to clean or net a fish, you have to take off the lid which can be a hassle. Otherwise this was a good buy."

Perfect!
Date: November 7, 2007
"I have owned many fish tanks. This tank is amazingly easy to take care of, and it is always crystal clear. The filtration system is of great design. If you change the filter every month, you pretty much never have to clean the tank. My fish are happy fish! Thanks!"

One of the Better Aquarium Kits out there!
Date: August 31, 2007
"Unlike most aquarium kits on the market, this is one of the few worth buying. This is one of the first aquariums I've ever gotten and I have had it for over 5 years. The bio-wheel filter is excellent and very quiet and is perfect for the tank as long as you dont overstock or overfeed it. The flourescent lights in the hood saves a lot of energy while brilliantly lighting up the tank. The closed hood helps to slow the evaporation rate of your water and most importanly, this tank is a real space saver since the filter is positioned in the hood. There is no filter hanging in the back so you can place the tank flush up against the wall. The tank itself is made of acrylic which is more susceptible to scratches than the average glass aquariums, but if there are little children or rowdy animals present, this tank is a lot safer because it is more durable and less likely to shatter than glass aquariums. I really recommend this tank for beginners because it takes the fuss out of buying the right filter and lighting, giving you more time to enjoy the fish. On top of that, it's very easy to clean and maintain. Two Thumbs Up :)
P.S. When shopping for Algae scrubbers, make sure to buy ones with acrylic safe sponges to avoid scratching up the view."
