"This litter mat is absolutely wonderful! It's the first one I've ever found which actually works as advertised. After ten days of use, there was only a very small amount of litter anywhere near the litter boxes, something I had never before been able to accomplish. With two cats tracking litter out of the boxes I can finally spend less time cleaning up after them."

"This is a good and fairly sturdy Litter Mat. True it's not 100% able to keep all the litter from tracking to other places, especially the very very fine particles, but it catches most of it and keeps the average sized litter kernel from getting off or far from the mat. I know how some cats will jump over a mat onto the floor. My cats don't mind walking, standing, sitting or shaking their coats of litter or water (after a bath) on these soft rubber mats. I find them easy to either shake out, sweep and/or rinse off to clean and get rid of the litter particles it traps in the grooves."

"I bought this mat in an attempt to stop litter from getting all over my floor, and to protect my floor when my cat didn't quite step all the way into the litter box before relieving herself. I was disappointed because the litter collects a lot in the grooves and is hard to get out. Also, if the cat urinates at all on the mat, it soaks through and gets to the floor relatively quickly. Some owners might have success with this mat, but after purchasing a couple of different styles of mats, I have determined that my cat absolutely hates mats and will urinate on them intentionally, or try to jump over them when going in/out of the litter box, which makes the mess even worse."

"At first I thought it was going to too big.. but it's great, the litter box sits on top of it. I have tried several others in the past.. have two cats.. so they make a mess. This mat has kept the room the cleanest, with the least mess. I just vacuum it from time to time. I highly recommend it if you have the room for it."

"The Cats Rule Litter Mat proved great at retaining litter. I prefer a compressed pine litter that is very fluffy when used. It was excellent at keeping it from spreading. It was large enough to cover the floor all around the litter box. It was also attractive when new. However sometimes one of my five cats will use the area in front of the pan instead of going in the pan. The attempt to scratch and cover this miss pulls chunks of the foam loose. When I tried to spot clean in front of the pan I could not remove the stains. I have not tried machine washing yet because I don't have a second mat and I'm concerned about the shedding foam. I've had the mat less than a month and it is too pricey to be disposable."

"I used to use the littermats that are like doormats, with the little plastic bristles. With those, I had to take them outside and shake them to clean out spilled litter, but these are flat enough to just go over with the vacuum. Also, one of the cats just jumped over the other mats, not liking to walk on the prickles, and thereby defeating its purpose of cleaning her little feeties. We have three fully clawed cats and they haven't made any holes in these, though I can see how a very overenthusiastic digger might. I have these on carpet and on linoleum, so the problems with wood floors mentioned by the other reviewer don't apply here. All in all, these are the best mats I've tried in the appx. 15 years my cats have owned me."

The Worst Litter Mat Ever

"I purchased two of these items. Don't use these if you cats have claws! My cats had holes in these mats within days. I purchased them to protect my wood floor, however, the mats "sweat" and leave moisture on the floor. Must have been designed by someone who doesn't have cats."
