"This air pump is pretty quiet. I just set it up today in my 20 gallon tank and when i turned it on i wouldn't have known it was running if it weren't for the bubbles in my tank. Recommend this product to anyone looking for and air pump."

"I have been using the Whisper air pump, for 20 gallon tanks, in my 20 gal. tank since September of 2007. It is still just as quite as the day I got it. I am able to power an under gravel filter efficiently and a bubble curtain effectively with the 20 gallon version. Overall this is a great product. Highly recommended!"

"This is a good air pump, it is silent and makes alllot of bubbles. Even though the air pump isn't loud the bubbles are the things that make the noise. There is no such thing is silent bubbles. I don't think its fair the that people are giving this product bad reviews just because of the bubbles being loud.... (Well at least thats probably the case to most people that have loud air Tetra whisper air pumps)"

"I just bought this for my 2 gallon bowl for my Betta. Even though Betta's don't need the extra oxygen in the bowl I decided to buy it for decorative purposes. It is very quiet which is great especially being in an office environment. He loves sitting over the bubbles. There is a airflow nozzle in which I keep it at a low setting so there isnt a lot of current. Make sure you buy the tubing since it does not come with the actual air pump."

"Sence the day I got this pump home, it has givin Me nothing but troubles!
I am on My second 100 pump in six months, and on My 3rd repair kit from the Tetra site, just to replace the diaphragms.
I'm not quite sure why the split in the same place every time, but at 8 dollars per kit, I should have tried two smaller pumps for the same amount of money."

"This pump would get 5/5 paws except for a few things of note. The pump runs on an electromagnetic diaphragm, which pumps air into the tubes. Basically, when the power is on, a simple lever connected to a regular magnet and a diaphragm is moved by an electromagnet near the regular magnet. In theory this is a basic and reliable design, but not entirely. If the pump meets any resistance it will force the lever out of its socket, forcing you, the owner, to open the pump and push it back in, unless you LOVE loud pumps that barely pump air. So yeah, I like this pump when it works, I ended up supergluing the lever which is held in place with foam, into its socket so it would not CONSTANTLY pop out and wake the neighbors. What is unfortunate is that these tend to be some of the best pumps out there for a budget consumer like me. I'd recommend opening it up when you get it, and put a drop of superglue on the fulcrum of the lever."

"I love Tetra's filter, water conditioner, fertilizer, fish food, and algae control. They really worth my money. But this air pump so-called "Whisper" is very disappointing. The noise of this air pump is louder than my friends Aquatic Garden air pump and is just as disturbing as the noise coming from a helicopter. Perhaps I have been expecting too much. To be fair, this air pump is more powerful than anyone I have used. Maybe the trade off of great power is loud noise."

"in terms of noise, it is about the same as other air pumps. The shape is great. you can put it on a hard surface and it wont start shaking or moving around. Ive had other air pumps and they start moving and making sounds on a hard surface. the feet have lots of rubber. very powerful air pump"

"I actually have two of them, a 40 and a 100. Both of which have ran non stop for three years without as much as a vibration, what else could you ask for? The larger one I actually painted black and proudly display it on top of my light hood. A geat purchase for any size tank."
