Neither 20H, 20XH, nor 20L fit on bottom shelf Date: February 18, 2008
"We bought this tank because it was advertised as being able to hold a 20H aquarium on the lower shelf. The lower shelf is too narrow to hold a 20H or 20L, and the lower shelf is not tall enough to accomodate a 20XH and the room required to service it. As noted by others, this stand is extremely wobbly. If you have 29 and 20 gallon aquariums going, you've probably invested enough into your tanks that it would be worth it to save your money and get a better stand."

Review 2 for Penn Plax Aquarium Tank Stand 29 Gallon

Very good stand for its price Date: September 5, 2007
"The stand is easy to assemble. Once assembled, the stand is wobbly. Also, there is no ridge, and therefore the tank will just sit on top. However, at the weight of the filled tank, all these "worries" are eliminated. I have another tank at the bottom shelf (an Eclipse 12). My only complaint is that there is not enough headroom at the bottom shelf, and siphon does not work with the bottom tank as it is so close to the ground. But I think if the stand was made any higher, this would make it very unstable."

Very sturdy but a little less stable than expected Date: May 16, 2007
"I bought the 29 gal tank stand and after an easy set up was very unsure of the stand. I got on top of it and jumped on it to make sure it was strong enough and it was. I got the tank on it and was disappointed to find it a little shaky but still not enough for me to return it. I hoped to put it up against a wall to stabilize it but my filter was in the way. Over all a great stand if it is out of the way and not likely to get bumped"

Great stand Date: October 6, 2006
"I purchased this stand online, they don't carry them in the store and it was worth the wait. It is set up in a fairly high traffic area and is constantly being "bumped" by people. It has never wobbled and the fish are never freaked when the stand gets bumped. There is room on the bottom for another tank. Currently I have a 10g there and there is just enough room for all the other fish "stuff" (food, meds, water conditioners) Overall it is a good buy, just make sure you use the pads that come with it or you might have problems."

Just fine Date: August 28, 2006
"I read the other review, maybe their floor is not level? I own this and it is holding my 29 gallon tank just fine. Did not seem cheap or unstable as the other reviewer mentioned. Don't forget, the wight of the tank will only make it sturdier and not wobbly at all.
My tank on this stand is in a high traffic area with 2 large happy playful dogs bopping around it, hitting it with their wagging tails (one of them wieghs in at 122 lds.), and the cat thinks the bottom shelf is just for him. If it can withstand all that, then yes, I would recommend it.
And as I recall, it does have a lip to hold the tank so it sits in place as it should."

dissapointed Date: July 3, 2006
"I bought this stand because it was advertised as strong enough for two tanks. I assumed that meant it was extra sturdy. I do not have two tanks set up but was thinking about the future. However, I would not put two tanks on this stand. In fact, I do not feel very secure having one on it. After I assembled the stand I tested it for sturdiness. At the slightest push, the stand wobbles. I was a bit nervous about putting my tank on it but thought well, it's made for this. It is in a level position. After I got my tank on it and all set back up, I just barely touched the thing and there was movement. I don't think a stand with just four steel bars that go straight down are sturdy enough to have a couple hundred pound tank of water sitting on it. It should also have a ridge that the tank sits in for more stability instead of just on top. Just make sure you put it away from a traffic area where there is little chance of bumping it. I can only say it will suffice until I either buy or build a wooden one that is stronger"
