"I recently adopted a kitten so I used my coupon with this and it happened to also be on sale at the time.
It's a great size for a small apartment bathroom. My kitten likes to kick litter around and the tracking is kept to a minimum. I also love how the charcoal filter keeps the smell at bay.
This litter pan would get 5 stars but the lid doesn't really snap on as tightly as I would like. To me it's a slightly irksome issue!"

"This pan is ridiculous! There are no latches and the mechanism intended to keep the hood of the pan attached to the bottom doesn't work. The hood just "rests" on the bottom piece, it does not secure to it. The old Petmate pan was better than this one, at least is had latches!!!!"

"This is the best investment I've ever made (so far as my babies are concerned, that is). I rescued two new kitties from the pound and BOTH have a thing about digging in the litter box, but one literally THROWS the litter out of the box 4-5 FEET. This box makes it impossible and saves me having to sweep and vaccuum several times a day to avoid walking on litter. I love it!"

"We are now up to 7 cats and have just ordered and received 2 more of these litter boxes. What we like about this litter box: the high back; the matching attached scoop (although two scoops have broken and one scoop holder became unstuck - the scoops and holder are a little flimsy); cleaning is much easier and faster when used with the plastic liners (we felt guilty about using the liners bc we were adding more plastic to landfills, but gave in bc it's just so much easier to clean the boxes when the bags are used; even if the cats scratch a hole in the liner, the box is less dirty than w/o a liner at all); the jumbo size is roomy enough for our more buxom cats. As other reviewers have noted, the door flap seems a little flimsy. I haven't used the flap before, but will try it on one of our boxes since we have more boxes spread out throughout the house and I want to keep the smell down."

"I definitely love this litter box! It cuts the smell down by a lot - having a covered box is so worth the money! I also don't use scoopable litter and it's easy to change the litter when I empty it - the size makes it easy to fit in a bag."

"We love this litter box. It is easy to clean and the plastice never gets a smell. It's also nice and large for our cat. The holder for the scoop is great. We did take off the little plastic door, our cat did not like it. But we don't have a smell at all."

"I want to give my kitten all the privacy he needs when hes using the litter box so i choose. I definitely like this box a lot, but i order the smaller version, and i didnt know that the small one did not come w/ a scoop on the side nor did it not come w/ a door. =[ I was really hoping that the litter box had a door on it, that way it would help keep in the smell. But aside from the time my kitten does his business it doesnt smell that bad."

"I threw out my old covered litter boxes once I got this one because for the longest time I noticed urine was getting outside of the old boxes, and thought there was nothing I could do about it. I saw this at PETCO and once I installed, I threw the old ones out. The cat ABBY EVERYWHERE tends to urinate standing up, getting it all over the back wall. With this box, it doesn't work it's way out like the old ones! NO MESS! Also, the liners work perfectly as well. The only problem I noticed is the snap lid doesn't stay locked, lid pops off when lifted."

"My only problem with this litter pan is the attachment of the hood. It has a new click and press feature and doesn't work well. No matter how securely I press and click, you cannot pick up the litter pan by the handle. The top always comes off.
Other than that, I works like any other litter pan."

"I bought this pan because it is narrow, and is the only one that I could find that fit between the toilet and sink in my bathroom. It has worked wonderfully for both the average size and very large cat. The large cat enters the box, turns around, and puts his head and front feet outside the box, and does his business inside! Then he reverses his position and covers the stuff in the box with litter. I haven't tried the filter that comes with it, but the box works well to contain litter."

"I purchased this for my 10 week old kitten and it's great. There is no smell and no huge mess around the litter box to clean up like there was with regular litter boxes I've used. She enjoys it bc she likes to scratch at stuff after she is finished and being inside with the walls gives her something to scratch at, she also seems to enjoy the privacy. This was well worth the $20 I paid."

"This was the first litter box that I ever purchased, but I think that it's great and my cat loves it too. The hooks for the door broke, so I used some packing tape to stick it back on and it's been on there for like 8 months. And I never use liners because my cat like to shred them which makes more of a mess."

"I bought this litter box because my male cat liked to kick litter everywhere, which also put a lot of dust on the surrounding furniture/electronics. This covered littler pan has been a tremendous help in minimizing the litter everywhere. I had the same problem with the door as other people mentioned. In fact, the door broke off about 5 minutes after I got it home. What I ended up doing is taking off the "Petsmate" label that the hooks were attached to. The holes that it leaves are the perfect space to fit a screw/washer through. I would suggest this for anyone thta wants to keep on the door. So far it has stayed put for a few months!"

"I got the jumbo sized one. Its an alright litterbox, it could be better. The door doesn't stay on so my cat uses it with out it. Also it only snaps close easily without a plastic liner in it."

"I truly thought that this wasnt going to work but I was proven wrong. My male cat was the biggest offender when it came to get litter everywhere. With this product, the extra litter on the floor has been reduced wonderfully.
I have 2 complaints though-
1) The little plastic door has fallen off because the hooks it sits on arent very sturdy. Is there a way to get this piece replaced so I can attach the door again?
2) The sides that should click dont always do that so you have to pay close attention to make sure that the top has been latched properly.
Otherwise, everything else about this product is good."

Petmate Jumbo Hooded Litter Pan

"Great Product!
I use this box for two cats, M&F, spayed and nuetered, Senior (>12years old) Cats, weighing between 10-15lbs each. It is in a small space in an apt.
The size may look huge in the store, but it takes up only as much space as your average(large) rectangular pan. Just taller.
Plastic is durable and washable. I have used this pan with and without Liners, both with success. (Personally prefer liners for quicker clean up). The included scoop is small /thin, but the holder- which I placed on the back of the hood- holds my larger, longer handled -more durable scooper. The handle on top makes for easy on and off. I decided not to use the tabs to click the hood in place- (my cats dont' knock it off)- for easy on/off and it stays on.
Odor control is excellent! I have used the filter for one month and it still has the odor under control. I use inexpensive clumping litter. I used to use a litter deoderizer almost daily, and now only use it after filtering or topping off the litter. Because it holds a good amount of litter, with less mess-I seem to be going through less litter as well. I don't need to filter daily (bad momma) as I did with other boxes.
Litter tracking is nearly eliminated! I took off the door because the female -freaked when it swung foward. Probably would track less if door was on and the litter was a max clumper. I am able to contain any tracked litter to about a 12 inch space with the use of a solid cotton -(not knited) shake & washable rug.
Because of high back and the hood, I dont have any missed urine/feces spills. The cats have enough room to turn around to use the box and enough space to cover their litter and not spill. Male cat does not cover his litter and the odor is still contained.
Very Pleased with this product."
