You can easily fix scratches on this aquarium... Date: May 30, 2009
"To the person who said this aquarium scratches easily... My Eclipse 12 sits in my 7-year-old son's room so you can imagine that ours has been scratched up quite a bit. If you use a Magic Eraser sponge on the scratch - really scrub it - the scratch will come right off. No kidding! This trick has worked even on seemingly deep scratches. BTW, this has been a great aquarium. We have had ours for 5 years and have had no trouble with it."

Like it, but scratches very easy Date: April 22, 2009
"I really do like this tank and it looks great but it scratches very easy. When I wiped it down I made scratches with a regular towel."

Nice starter aquarium!! Date: November 22, 2008
"This would be a great aquarium, for those of you who do not have that much room to set up a large aquarium, it is a nice size. I still have mine, I bought it about a year ago. The only problem I had was the filter went out in only a month, but petco gave me a brand new one, and this one has been perfect. I do recommend this aquarium, it is very nice, and well made. Great starter aquarium for you or for a child. Also a great Christmas present. This is what I am getting my 10 year old cousin for Christmas."

Okay Date: June 19, 2008
"The tank and setup is easy for a beginner. The size is nice. The only complaint I have is the opening is in the back. Just as everyone else has said. I also don't like the frame top. It has a black piece of plastic on the top that gets in the way if you are trying to net your fish, gravel vacuuming, or removing surface debris. It's really annoying. Other than that it's a nice tank for a beginner.
Another quick note. Don't stock this tank immediately after set up. The biological filter system needs at least two weeks to settle in and build up good bacteria. Stocking immediately will result in fish loss, and cloudy water due to the fact that the filtration can't initially handle food and fish waste."

A great tank to start with Date: June 7, 2008
"This is a great tank to start with if you're just getting into the hobby, and "testing the waters" .I own the 3gal and this one,and if I'm not mistaken,I think I have an even smaller one that contains a Betta, and with what I've used them for,I've been quite happy..
The filtration is adequate,as long as you don't over stock.
Overall the tank is quite pleasing to the eye."

nice setup Date: March 23, 2008
"I have the 12 and the 3. Both are excellent for what I have in them. In the 12 I have two female swordtails, one anglefish and 4 corys. My plants do quite well, hornwort, crypts, and bulbs of lilys and others. Select lowlight plants and they get plenty with the lights. Tanks stay clear with 25% water changes once a week.
The filter does an adequate job. They are quiet as I have both in my bedroom. I use the smaller one for a couple female guppies and have had several babies in it.
Use java moss and horwart in it to prote4ct the babies. The hornwort grows quite fast in both tanks and I clear out the excess now and then and put it in my goldfish pond."

Excellent Option Date: February 8, 2008
"A great "not too small, not too big" option. You'll find yourself having to remove the top to add fish and for maintance, becuase the lid is in the back. This does make the filter easy to replace. The included bulb is sufficent for most popular aquatic plants. Easy holds 12 to 15 tiny fish."

Good Size Tank Date: August 24, 2007
"I like the complete cover but open the lid was problem with my hands. For simple fix add plastic knob. The tank was easy to setup, but after month the tank started leak. Return the tank to the store.

Light is weak for plant growth, I think you can increase the wattage with any problems.

To add baby fish through the lid open is not the greatest.
To clean the filter is very easy, con side price of replacement filters. I added a piece of women nylon to cover the filter pickup to keep babies out of the filter."

Not a Bad Aquarium Date: July 19, 2007
"I bought this aquarium back in April for 2 goldfish my husband received. He had been keeping them in a bowl, and considering how filthy goldfish can be, I decided to buy this aquarium. They had plenty of room to swim around and enjoyed sitting in the current created by the top filter. My only complaint with this aquarium is the size of the opening at the top. There is not much room to maneuver, and if you need to reach down further into the aquarium, you will need to take the entire top off. Other than that, a nice setup for a nice price."

DISSAPOINTED!!! Date: July 10, 2007
"DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! Right after set up it looked and worked pretty well. After not even two full days the filter suddenly starting making a crackling noise and stopped pumping water. I didnt even have a chance to add any fish, thank goodness poor things might have died. I will be taking this back to the store first thing tomorrow."

"GUYS, I REALLY LIKE THIS TANK.
I KNOW THE OPENING IS KIND OF SMALL, BUT AS TIME GOES BY, I REALLY KNOW HOW TO HANDLE IT.
IT IS JUST PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS JUST LIKE ME.
I HAVE THE TANK NOW FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS, AND I KNOW I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A BIGGER ONE. BUT RIGHT NOW, I REALLY ENJOY THIS ONE, I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS, AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT, BECAUSE I CHECKED THE SAME TANK OUT AT DIFFERENT STORES, AND THE PRICE CAN BE $50.00 HIGHER, SO GO TO PETCO. ENJOY, JUST LIKE ME, I REALLY ENJOY MY PETS."

Great!!!! Date: March 1, 2007
"I got this aquarium for my b-day and it is great! It truley has a silent filter system and it also has a good filter. One concern I had with this tank at the begining was that the Bio-Wheel was splashing water every where but as time went on it was not as bad and I found out that it was normal by calling Tetra Care, the great help line included with this aquarium. It is a great advantege to have the filter and lighting in the hood of the aquarium. It saves a lot of space. I highly reccomend that you get this aquarium. I am getting my fish today and I am assured that they will live in a healthy enviornment. Get this aquarium!!!!"

Best Tank Ever!!! Date: December 20, 2006
"I really like this tank and the acrylic does not scratch like most acrylic tanks do. I am very impressed and I would deffinatly recommend this to anyone beggining or experienced. I got it for my birthday and compared to my tank downstairs which is glass and has a different filter system, my fish live longer, it is actually quieter and cleaner. Don't miss it!! It is a great offer for what comes in the package with this huge 12 gallon tank. All you have to buy seperatly is the the thermometer and heater. It even has food and nutrients for your fish. I LOVE IT!!!"

Nice Beginner Tank w/ Minor Flaws Date: December 16, 2006
"I have had this tank for two weeks and I am quite pleased so far. Here is a quick run down on my pros and cons:

Pros:
-Acrylic is incredible, will never go back to glass.
-Very handsome tank, the curved front is a great addition.
-Streamlined hood and filtration system are unobtrusive and make the tank look uncluttered and very nice.
-Overall a pain free, great looking 12 gallon tank that you won't regret buying.

Cons:
-The light is on the small side, plenty to light the tank but probably not enough for someone wanting lots of light for live plants.
-Not truly "silent" but very bearable, although the water level has to be maintained rather high to reach the most silent levels.
-Filter intake piece is large for a tank this small. Marineland's standalone units have a much smaller intake piece. Also it is rather long and almost touched my gravel bed. A quick cut of the tube solved this issue.
-Opening the lid on the cover reveals a very limited access space to the tank. It is enough for feeding but forget about fitting your hand in or doing cleaning. For that the entire cover has to come off and with it the light making it hard to see what you are doing.

On the whole I am happy with this great looking tank. All my gripes with it I would consider minor design issues. However, if you have the budget I would recommend getting an acrylic tank that is compatible with their Eclipse1, Eclipse2, or Eclipse3 filtration and illumination systems. I had a chance to see one at the store. They have a much larger flourescent lamp i.e., better lighting, and the entire front quarter swings open with the lamp attached, giving you room to maneuver without taking the whole top off."

Marine Land Eclipse Aquariums are the best! Date: May 7, 2006
"I have bought and used the Eclipse system 3, 6 and 12 over the past several years, and I am most happy with them. They are quiet and filter the water very well. The system 12 is a bit more difficult to clean than the other two when you get down in the crevices of the filter, but I manage. The filter pads are usually 3 for $10, and last for two weeks unless you get a powerful hose to wash them out with, then you can usually get a few more weeks out of each.
I wish Eclipse made tanks larger than 12 gallons because my fish are growing huge!"
