"My 8 mo. old 1/2 EB & 1/2 Pit, Roscoe has struggled with nasty gastro issues since I got him at 10 wks. As time went on, I've gradually started to figure out what he's allergic to and would then make the slow change to a new food. Each time he might have 1 sold stool in a week- that's it. We've battled explosive diarrea and foul gas for so long.
A month ago I switched him to Merrick Wilderness Blend. While his coat improved and he loved it, I figured out the 3 rich meat sources in the food were just too much for his tummy (it is an excellent food though for dogs who haven't got a sensitive tummy). Now, after having opted for premium foods, grain-free, no soy, sorn, by-products, etc, and continuing my endless hours of research, this past weeked I decided to make the 5th food change and decided to try DVP's Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Fish.
I never thought I'd be so excited to see solid stool, but this morning, after only 2 prior feedings of this stuff, HOORAY! Solid stool!! I opted not to do a slow switch ONLY b/c it just couldn't get any worse than it already was- believe me...it was horrible! I couldn't bring myself to keep giving him food in a slow transition that would continue to make his tummy sick (ordinarily I would reccommend a slow switch though).
While it may be too early to be this excited, I truly believe this is it- the last food I'll have to try! He loves it and the treats too and I plan on going back to PetCo to get some of the canned L.I.D. canned food also to mix in w/the kibble.
Words cannot express how grateful I am to have found this food! I would highly reccommed it to anyone's pup who has been battling GI problems.
I can't wait to see an increased improvement in his coat too, as by reading the other reviews, is bound to happen!
A happy tummy is a happy puppy!"
