darn good gate Date: April 18, 2008
"Given the price, this was an excellent purchase for us. We are on a budget and this gate we could afford. We're gating our new puppy, a mixed cattle dog/basset who weighs around 15 pounds now. So she can't really trash the gate. The latches are fine for us. We screwed eye hooks into the door jamb and voila."

Not a good buy Date: June 22, 2007
"I needed a gate for my kitchen and I could not find one this wide at any of the local stores. This gate is not meant for small dogs. My miniature poodle was able to fit right through the gate. I had to buy something to cover it so that the dog would not get out. The gate is very wobbly and hard to get in and out of. The clamps are hard to open and many times got caught in the hooks. I have accidentally yanked the hook completely out of the wall because of this many times. My puppy eventually ate through the gate and I had to buy another one elsewhere. I had a really hard time with it and it was not worth the money."

Works good for the price Date: February 10, 2007
"Gate is not the prettiest out there, however for half or less than half the price of a gate to fit the same opening it works well enough. Probably not good for chewers though. It would be nice to have better mounting hardware but I did make it work with some modification. For us it works well until the puppy and baby will be large enough so we will not need it. I would recommend it for those on a budget and not afraid to alter the mountings so that they hold."

nothing else available Date: March 14, 2006
"I have a wide opening from kitchen to family room. My two mini Schnauzers have gnawed the gate to the point that I went to the local hardware store to obtain their widest and tallest shelf to brace the gate. The shelf is not quite as deep as the gate is tall so I still need both, but it's a real pain to deal with both items when I leave the house. Wish someone would come up with something better. I certainly could if I had the wherewithal!"

You get what you pay for... Date: December 14, 2005
"The first description listed it as: "Beautiful Varnished Wood" -- hardly so, it was sanded wood but not varnished. "Mounts easily in doorways, hallways, or larger openings as a barrier for your pet." -- Once again, not really. The gate has these two pinching mechanisms that are not as easy to open as it might be suggested, not convenient for my elderly grandmother to open or remove. Also the gate is not as structurally solid. I understand that the gate is large and there will be some movement or giggle- but the gates own securing mechanisms that allow it to slide are also at fault for making it not sturdy. The Image also appears misleading; as it is not a large enough picture to view it is too tiny to really decipher the quality of the product."
