"The quality and stability of this scratcher is the best I have ever seen. It is very tall so the cats can really stretch, and it doesn't wobble. Also, it's very attractive. Be sure to have several different kinds of scratchers for your cat to choose from, especially this one!"

Don't declaw purchase a Smart Cat Ultima

"I have two large Maine Coon cats that love to scratch. The one prefers large flat scratchers but the other preferred our bathroom doorway. He caused so much damage that my husband said we should have him declawed (which I am strongly against). I searched the internet and found the Smart Cat Ultimate Scratching Post. Romeo gets his full stretch while scratching and my bathroom doorway has been saved. Highly recommend this to anyone with cats large or small. "

"This was easy to put together- my cat hasn't warmed up to it yet, but every once in awhile he goes over and stretches on it. He still prefers his rug post. I think it will just take some time. It is made well and seems very sturdy."

"Its so tall and so sturdy, she can stretch all the way out! She is a Maine Coon, so she is a big cat and this works out really well. I rubbed a little catnip on it and BINGO, she decided it was hers to use and she claimed it! Its a great product, well worth the money, and she will get several years of use out of it! Go for it!"

"After much comparison, I settled on this scratching post based on the description and the reviews that I read - and boy, I was not disappointed. My kitty LOVES this post - it allows him to get a good stretch and plenty of scratching and climbing, too! It is sturdy AND actually attractive enough for us to have in the living room. I highly recommend also getting the Ultimate Perch that is an accessory to the post sold separately that slides on and provides a padded perch on top - my kitty spends hours either climbing up the post or running and jumping onto the pad and hanging out up there looking out the window or napping. That makes it an all-in-one wonderfully attractive unit that saved me from having to buy a window perch separately."

No more trimming nails

"I admit I thought it was a bit expensive, but it is worth every cent. In 25 years of having cats I've never had a post this good. Better than any cat tree.
I have three cats, right under a year to five years, small to ex-large. Even the big one can stretch all the way and claw. I used to trim nails every other week. Since I got this I may trim 1-2 nails not 1-2 cats, not 1-2 paws but 1-2 nails and that's only occasionally. That alone is worth the price.
Much to my surprise it is sturdy. It sits on thick carpet with a pad and it is sturdy. The baby loves to climb and sit on top and the others will still claw, it moves, but no danger of a tip over.
I love it and so do my cats. If you can, get your cat one."

"This is definitely the best scratching post I've ever owned. It actually looks like a piece of furniture, rather than a log covered in shag carpeting. The sisal is really sturdy, and my little one loves trying to climb up to the top. It's also tall enough for my Maine coon to really stretch out on.
The ONLY poo poo I have is that the base was shipped in two separate pieces. I was under the impression that it would be one solid piece of wood, but it is cut in half. It's fine, I guess, but it would be much sturdier in one piece. Eventually, I'll attach the two halves myself.
DEFINITELY worth the investment though. Don't hesitate at the price. SmartCat is an excellent brand, and every toy and accessory that my cats have is from them."

"I read the reviews before I purchased this. And I enthusiastically agree. The height is perfect for our cat to stretch completely while scratching. It looks great in our family room - much better than previous products. It has great, clean lines and is very solid, very stable.
Our cat loved it the moment I took it out of the box. There is assembly required for the base - very easy. He was scratching while I was assembling.
I'm completely sold. We've had it now for 2 weeks and it still looks like it did when we pulled it out of the box. I think it will wear very well. But if I ever need to replace it - no question about it - I'll purchase this one again."

I would only make one recommendation to the manufacturers of this product. The ability to easily hang one or two catnip or feather type toys from the top would further encourage its use... Overall very satisfied... have ordered another..."

"This is such a great product. I read all kinds of reviews and websites that named this as the best to buy. With a new kitty very interested in my furniture and determined not to declaw this is the best there is. It is a BIG TALL post so don't be surprised but the height and the sisal covering and sturdy base is what makes it unique and a must have. I took it out of the box and while I was screwing on the stablizing base my kitty was already scratching on it. Right now he's not so big but he's getting pretty lanky and to have a post that a grown cat can actually stretch out full length as an adult will be great. And it has very clean nice lines so it isn't ugly like some cat posts. It is an investment but so far I'm already sure that I'm a smart consumer to have found this product. Get yours!"

"In a household of four cats and multiple prior as well as current scratchers, the obvious and clear favorite is the SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post! After months of use, it is still holding up well, and the base is extremely sturdy. It's tall enough for the cats to reach up and stretch their backs, which they love! "I cannot say how much I LOVE this scratching post. I got it for my cat a few months ago, and it's literally saved my $700 sofa. She uses it almost constantly, and I can tell she loves being able to stretch out while scratching. She still *sometimes* uses the corner of the sofa, but that's more because I haven't done anything to deter that behavior (like buy the sticky pads or spray). I also just got a new kitten, and he loves climbing the post!
Even better: it actually fits in with my decor. It's not made of some ugly dirty brown carpet and scraggly rope.
The base is wide and sturdy. My 10lb cat can scratch on it without issues, and my kitten can climb it with almost no wobbling."

"The cat would not stop clawing and pulling up the carpet. Declawing was not an option. We didn't want a scratching post that was covered in carpet, feeling it would send the cat mixed messages. Since this post is covered in sisal, we felt it was a wise choice, and SHE LOVES IT! We couldn't be happier with this product, highly recommend it!"

"This post is sturdy and very appealing to the cats. They have actually run up it and perched on the top, looking very proud!
The fact that a cat can reach way up above their head is the normal position for them and really encourages use of the post instead of furniture. I bought 3! Great to start kittens on (it becomes a playground)!"

"I'm a foster home for an animal rescue organization and I have two of these scratching posts. The cats and kittens love them and use them all the time! (I also have sisal items on the floor for the horizontal scratchers.) I recommend this scratching post often to adopters and it always gets rave reviews. Great product - great alternative to declawing."
