My cats are 11 and 13. They were on the Iam's senior/low weight/low hairball cat food and that cat food was diminishing off the shelves of all pet stores. We finally broke down and decided to try Merrick. One of my cats who used to have a mild case of dandruff on Iams and was a major shedder, did not have those problems anymore! My other cat was a major shedder but after being on Merrick, he shedded way less!
I have to say that now I have them on the Nourish dry cat food... BIG MISTAKE. My cats are shedding like mad.. And now one of my cat has diarrhea and tons of dandruff.
The reason why I didn't stay with this brand is because it was like my Iam's situation, there was only one bag on the shelf. It's a little costly too but if it will make them live longer, I will invest in a more expensive brand.
All 10 of our cats LOVE Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain Free foods (both the dry and canned varieties). In fact, they go nuts for it. You'd think it was catnip! All 10 cats (ages 16 years to just under one year old) have beautiful, glossy fur and are much healthier since we ditched the "big name" stuff, which is loaded with fillers and grains, especially corn, which is a no-no for cats. Just compare ingredients; you'll see. In fact, one of our cats has diabetes, which now is under control without medication thanks to these foods. Why 10 cats? It all started with two daughters ... :)
3 of my 5 cats really like this food. They look healthy and their fur is softer since switching to this food. It seems to be an easy to chew food which is nice for my older cats. Two of my slightly overweight cats are eating it and seem to enjoy it and have lost a little weight and now are closer to their ideal weight.
