"While this sounds like a good idea, the Doggie Dooley has several major drawbacks. First, you have to dig a hole 14" wide and 4 feet, that's right, 4 FEET DEEP! Have you ever tried to dig narrow hole 4 feet deep? It's not easy, even with a post hole digger! If you make the hole too wide, there's almost no way to fix it, since the lip on the Doggie Dooley is only about 1.5 inches wide, and that is what keeps it from falling into the hole you just dug. So if your hole winds up 17" wide, you're out of luck.
If you do get it installed correctly, note that it works best at temperatures above 60 degrees F, and does not work at temperatures below 40 degrees F. Where we live (Washington State), that's about 4 months out of the year that we can't use it!
Finally, even though the description says 1 to 2 dogs, the Doggie Dooley instructions say 1 large pet or two small pets. Our two 50 lbs dogs quickly overwhelmed the poor thing, and now we're back to disposing of waste in other ways.
This may work well in the summer, but considering the installation and temperature requirements, I wouldn't recommend it."
