Great look at first...

I saw this item at Petco, went home to do some research, read reviews, then I purchased two for my 40 gallon tank. My fish love it and these "rocks" are beautiful when they are first placed in the tank. After about two weeks, they start to discolor with algae and such turning brown/green. I'm a bit OCD about things being clean, so when I do a water change I just put them in the dishwasher with very a little bleach and they come out white again. I've been doing this for about 3 months now and I don't have any problem once I learned about running them through the dishwasher. My only complaint now is that after their last cleaning (less than a week) there is a lot of "white dust" within my tank. I don't know if it's been cleaned too much and is starting to break down (being that it's not real rock) but it's a bit annoying.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pretty When New

I really liked the look of this in my 30 gallon tank. Fish had fun swimming in and out of all the holes but it turned green and/or black with so much algae build up, I couldn't scrub it clean. I don't think it bothered the fish, but it wasn't very pretty to look at anymore Too bad but I had to throw it out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Though it looked very pretty and my fish loved to swim in the holes, it clouded up my betta's 3 gallon bowl. I do regular water changes, but within 2 days of cleaning the water was clouded with white dust. Not pleased.
