At least Alfalfa is NOT the first indgredient since it's not for adult pigs!

I had to go on another pellet hunt for my 2 adult males after finding out their current (high quality) pellets didn't contain all of the vitamins and nutrients they needed (both are HEALTHY they began losing their fur)! I prefer to order their pellets online so I can buy a better quality food for them but I did not want to wait for shipping so I went to Petco and another local store. This was the O-N-L-Y pellet mix on the shelf that did NOT start with Alfalfa as the 1st or 2nd ingredient so I had to buy it. FOR ADULT GUINEA PIGS (MEANING 6 MONTHS OF AGE OR OLDER) ALFALFA CONTAINS TOO MUCH CALCIUM AND TOO MUCH CALCIUM CAN CAUSE KIDNEY STONES! I never would've known had I not done research and most brands have it as the primary or secondary ingredient. I took a star off because I do NOT like the fact that this food contains it but at least it's lower on the list than most.
Both pigs took to this food well and now LOVE it. Whenever I pick up the bag they get SO excited. And even better, both have regrown almost their entire hair!
I would recommend this to a friend!

The product has recently changed. Same ingredients but the food looks different now. Bag is redesigned too. My guinea pigs used to love this but now they won't even touch it. Contains a lot of corn kernels as well.

Carefresh Guinea Pig Food (pellet mix)

My piggie loves this. She tends to be finicky and treats it as a child would (as in picking out the marshmallows from Lucky Charms); it is one of her favorites.

I have been using this food for almost 4 years now. I have had some guinea pigs who would only eat this food, others not so picky. It is a good food, doesn't have a ton of unhealthy treats in it and I will continue to buy this food as long as they make it, for the guinea pigs and chinchillas.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not good for guinea pigs

While this food is better than some other guinea pig food sold in pet stores, it is still NOT good for your guinea pig. It has corn in it, which guinea pigs are not supposed to eat a lot of, and other ingredients that aren't the best for your little one. Please do your research online before buying guinea pig food, as you will discover that most brands of guinea pig food are actually not healthy for your guinea pig at all.
