Best Crystal Litter I've Found

This crystal litter is excellent. It's worth the extra $$. It really is much lower in dust. If your cat has asthma or any respiratory problems you'll appreciate this product. I just buy it because it is low dust and it also has the benefit of forming what I will call "clumps" of urine that can be scooped out if you happen to be able to scoop the box before all of the urine is absorbed by the crystals. If not, then just stir the litter daily or several times per day. I scoop mine out into a plastic bag and dispose of them in a Litter Champ. Don't get me wrong, this is not a clumping litter and won't form hard clumps, but try it and you'll see what I mean. This helps the litter last longer -- just be sure to add a little fresh litter if you are scooping it this way. Either way it's the best crystal litter I've found.. .and the texture is much nicer for the cats feet, and it doesn't hurt under human feet either (a problem when you step on most crystal litters with bare feet).

I bought a tub of Dr. Elsey's after my kitten was diagnosed with asthma. We had been using Cat's Pride Fresh & Light with minimal symptoms, but a recent spate of coughing fits led us to experiment. Bad idea.
Dr. Elsey's is hands down THE dustiest litter I've ever used before. I'm surprised it is marketed as a respiratory relief product. The moment I poured out the inch prescribed on the instructions, I could feel the dust hit my lungs. Very slow, gentle scooping or even kitty's digging agitates the litter enough to leave a cloud several feet high throughout the apartment. You can feel it when you lie on the floor or in bed.
Given the number of glowing reviews on here, I suppose it's possible I received a bad batch. But I'm not buying another tub to find out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is the best cat litter on the market! No dust, no litter on the floor, absorbs odors instantly. My bathroom never has a 'litter box odor'. It's now the only cat litter I will use.

I will never use any other cat litter again. This litter dries out the urine odorlessly -- no messy, smelly clumps to scoop out. The silica is fine and lightly coats the solid waste and dries it out. You can scoop the solid waste and flush it down the toilet. It leaves the catbox odorless. PLUS, my cat loves it. Whenever I put in fresh litter he goes and digs around in it for the pure pleasure of how it feels.

This stuff is much lighter weight than normal litter - it took the cats a couple of days to get used to it - but the lack of dust is a boon to my asthmatic girl. Expensive, but worth it.

I love the silica litter in general because it does a better job controlling odor. These the pieces aren't as big so they hurt less to step on. There is very little dust and outstanding odor control. 3 cats, 2 litterboxes and I only have to change them out every 2 weeks.
