Both our dogs and our kids love it!

We initially bought this travel kennel to transport our Bichon puppy & as her bed. She traveled very well in it and seemed to enjoy being able to look out the top portion. She didn't whine or fuss at all -- even on hours-long road trips. We sat her kennel between the kids' booster seats and ran the seatbelt through the handle to secure it. The kids really liked being able to SEE that the puppy was comfortable in her crate and that cut down on the begging to let her out on trips. HOWEVER!! Our bichon grew to be a 10lb dog and while she can still get inside, I would not say she FITS in this kennel. She is very cramped in there now, even though she is at the top of the recommended weight range. We ended up purchasing item # 117374 (Petmate 2 Door Top Load Kennel) when she was full grown (and love it, too, because of the 2nd door).
As I said, the Petmate Look 'N See Mesh Top Kennel was used as a bedtime crate, too. After the Bichon outgrew it, we took the door off & left the kennel in my son's bunkbed where the dog continued to use it as her space when she slept in his bunk. When we took it out again to bring home our new puppy, the Bichon went right in, curled up and layed down. Clearly it gets the stamp of approval from THE DOG! :)
Our new PooChon puppy is considerably smaller at 3-1/2 lbs and travels just as well in this kennel now as our 1st dog did (so glad I kept it). Her little tongue can dart out the metal mesh weave a teeny bit & she likes to lick the kids' hands through the crate, which they adore. She easily crates up for travel, "home alone time", and sleeping in this crate, too. Given how much smaller this dog is than our Bichon was at the same age, I expect our PooChon will have this kennel for her lifetime.
Money well spent -- I would buy a bigger one today if another size existed.
I would recommend this to a friend!
