The proportions and simplicity of this tank are its best features. The LED light system is nicely shaped, though it lacks any switching so it has to be controlled with a timer at the power outlet. Also not crazy about the light color from the one blue LED. Our betta is enjoying its new found freedom of movement in the 4-gallon environment. We measured a little over four gallon capacity leaving a half inch for spill control. The pump included with the tank is virtually useless for betta, way too much flow. Our betta looked like it was in a storm. Replaced it with a Tetra Whisper 3i, and control the airflow for smooth slow filtering, and it cleared the tank within a day or so. Otherwise a very lovely aquarium, and well made too. Arrived via Fedex unbroken due to excellent, multiple packing layers.

I have been wanting a desktop aquarium for couple of weeks for a Betta, shopped around, and found this on Petco. I have not been disappointed with my purchase. Despite the tank being made of glass, it was very well packed for shipping and arrived in perfect condition (had one box within another box). Very easy to set up. The only "slight concern" I had was with the filter. It is an excellent filter, just a little too strong of a current for a Betta. It also was only a sponge filter which provided no chemical filtration. My simple solution was to purchase a piece of sponge filter, cut it slightly larger than the sponge filter that came with the filer, and added some charcoal between the two layers. This also slowed the current just enough that my Betta is not fighting the current in the tank. The LED lighting really makes the blue color's on my Betta really "pop" and stand out. Outside of making a slight adjustment with the filter, I, and my new Betta and snail, are both VERY Happy!

Never review things - but thought I'd take a second to say how much our family has enjoyed this fish tank! Researched a ton first and got this as soon as they came out. Love the clear, unobstructed views and quiet filter. No problems whatsoever. Great videos online to show how to set up, etc. We have many live plants, a piece of driftwood and some various rocks along with gravel substrate and a patch of sand for bottom dwellers. Took about a month to cycle the water using the ammonia method we researched online. Tested water daily with test tube kit (not strips) until reached the right balance. Introduced plants first, then fish. We chose 3 cherry barbs, 3 hatchets, 2 endler's livebearers, 1 cory cat, & 1 honey dwarf gourami. Then added 2 African dwarf frogs and 3 algae eating shrimp. May sound like a lot for 5 gallons, but as I said - we took the time to really stabilize the tank, used live plants, followed advice of pet store, and chose small species with low bio loads. Also, we do a 20% water change 1/week. Great chemistry & biology lessons for the kids along the way. Was time and work to set up right - but totally worth it. We are so very happy with this purchase.
