"I bought this product yesterday. I have a Beagle who barks every morning at 5am. I put the PetSafe right next to the crate (about 2 feet away). The Beagle started barking this morning...and kept on barking. I think this product may work for a limited number of dog breeds with a certain bark tone. The product does work when you press the button to manually activate it. The dog stops what he's doing and starts looking around. Too bad it doesn't work the way it's supposed to."

Didn't work for my small dog

"I purchased this to help control the barking on my 9 lb mini dachshund. It only worked when I hit the button on top. It did not pick up the sound of her barking on its own. If it can pick up your dogs bark it may work very well, but unfortunately it didn't for us."

"I have an 11 month old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Corgi's are known for being the "little dog with the big dog bark"... and isn't that the truth! She barks at anything and everything. Hours after buying this device, the house was quiet... she hates it! Even the site of it now makes her run away. It's a miracle!! I even brought it outside and got my neighbor's dog to stop barking at me when I'm in my own yard. (We live in a Townhouse). This is the best invention since the wheel!"

"Well, we just purchased the item, for Mickie and Ava our Maltese, but so far is doing it's job. I didn't know at first the button on top was to push for "extra" sound when the dog barked too much so I was pushing it, wondered why Mickie ran upstairs! Ava doesn't seem to mind as much, but it does allow them to bark a time or two, then it must go "off" because they shut up!
Mickie has already learned the machine is "bad news" if he sees me pick it up he heads for th hills!
Will let you know if it continutes to do it's job!"

"The one we got fell apart after less than a year. I contacted the company with no response from them. The battery connections broke off so the battery can no longer attach to the mechanism. For the six months we had it, it did work. It was just made very poorly!"

"I've read the reviews and I tried it anyway. My lab mix is a barking machine and my other dog just follows her lead. We were moving into an apartment that normally doesn't allow dogs but the landlord made an exception if we could keep them quiet and they didn't disturb anyone. I tried the citrus collar and that didn't work at all...my dog actually loved the taste of that stuff. The moment they started to bark and this thing went off, they would put their tails between their legs and run for cover. This and a waterbottle works wonders!!!"

"This thing was a pain from the beginning. There was no on/off that we could find, so it had to be taken apart to insert or remove the battery. There was no pattern to it going on or off and no way to tell if it worked. This is so poorly designed and would have been a waste of money but, thankfully, Petco was great about the return. ..no problem and a complete refund."

"So I bought this with the hopes that I could teach my dogs not to bark without having to shock them. After receiving this item I quickly realized that all I did was waste my money. My dogs completely disreguarded it. I even took it home to let my mom try it and it made her dog bark even more than she already did. Save yourself the money!!"

"I purchased this product when moving from the country to a subdivision for a short period of time. The kids were not used to so many people around. The product worked great for 2 of the kids but it didn't phase the other 3. Fortunate for me, one of the kids it worked for is the leader of the pack so if she stops barking the rest do. It just seams to work better for some dogs than others. Just give it a try. If it works for you, fantastic. If not, return it for a refund."

"I bought this product to help with my dog's barking at one specific dog who lives up the street. Every time it walks by my dog will start barking until it turns into an uncontrollable bark. I thought that this would be the perfect option, but it had no effect on him whatsoever. I even placed it in the window where he will bark and it was like it was not even there. Luckily PETCO is good about returns. Instead we have started a behavior modification program using a remote trainer."

"Thumbs down.
I put a battery in it and double checked the instructions but unfortunately this bark "controller" had zero affect on our dog. The light would go off to signal it was supposed to be emitting an ultrasonic noise but my dog didn't seem to care one bit and kept on barking!"
