"We have 4 yorkies and my husband works nights. for the most part the dogs don't bark to often or for long, but when they do you can imagine! they are all on an invisible fence, therefore they all have collars so the shocking system was out of the question as was the spray system. I continued searching and found the ultrasonic bark control. Was hesitant at first about purchasing the unit, but decided if it didn't work, it could always be returned. Once it arrived and they all decided to bark for the first time, that was all it took! they all know now to go outside if they want to bark."

"This is great idea, because it is not attached to the dog, and can be controlled.
My problem; it worked on and freaked my 1 non-barking dog; she won't come into the room if it's out. But it had no affect on my 3 barking dogs.
It just doesn't affect all dogs. But when it does, it really works!"

"This unit requires a new battery OFTEN. It needs to be more sensitive. My dog was within 4 feet of it, and it would not go off. Battery was new. I have now disconnected it and given up. May try one of the collar styles."

"We got the device on a Thurs. worked well for stopping behavior while we were home to manually push the button. Friday during the day the device was left in the room that the dogs were in while we were at work but we always come home for lunch so they only have about a 4 hr. period at a time they are left alone we were trying to control the barking we could hear from outside the house as we came home each day. But by Friday when we got home the battery was completly drained. We are thinking we need to go to the collar and remote type."

"Bought the item a week ago and haven't had any complaints.
When I researched the item I noted that the reviews were either very high or low with "I'm returning it." This, and my experience, suggests the effectiveness depends on the dog.
After installing the battery I pressed the manual button. One dog jumped and went up the stairs and the other headed for another room. I set it by the front door with a clear shot down the tiled hallway. Almost at once the barking noticeably decreased. I’d hear a bark or two and then nothing. I noted they started staying at the corner of the hallway and stopped charging to the front door.
My daughter came with her two and I saw the item isn’t all things to all dogs. One of hers simply didn’t notice it.
I pull the battery at night so if there are prowlers my doggie alarm will go off. I’d change the design to have an on/off switch but other them that, noting.
My advice is to plan to return the item (save the box and slip) and try it. Location seems important as my hallway has lots of hard surfaces to bounce sound. Tonight I picked up the unit and watched one of my dogs scoot. No doubt she know what it is."

"This trained my very barky four year old pom in two days! I did use the manual button, because it only went off when he really got barking, but I did not find this a problem. I used his cue word of "enough" and then would hit the button when he started barking over some unknown reason. It stopped him in his tracks. By the third day he was bark free! My home is so much less stressed out and Mozart is happy as a clam."

"I tried this product on my austrialian shepard mix but it didnt phase her. It worked on my friends lab and cats but for some reason it didnt really affect her. I will be returning it."

"Purchased two of these and both were defective. When barking occurs the light should illuminate to designate that it is working. No light and no response to barking unless the manual button is pushed which isn't helpful if you're not in the room."

"After reading all the negative reviews I was wondering if I am wasting my money. This appeared to be a pretty safe product so I decided to give it a try. It works great on my Schnauzer, but my long hair Dachshund is not paying attention to the signal. Since the Schnauzer was the cause of all the barking and my Dachshund just went along for the ride I am happy that I now have a quiet house. I have the bark control only for 24 hrs."

"Desperate times call for ignoring the reviews... DON'T.
I have a collie who was 'distracted' the first day and then it didn't phase her anymore. Her desire to bark was stronger.
The worst part is i may have just kept trying but the cats became very distrubed whenever it went off and would run out of the room. Apparantly it bothers them more!"

"Worked great on my 9 month old lhasa apso. I used it on my patio where he likes to bark at my neighbors. When he barked the sound startled him so he learned not to bark or to bark softly. My neighbors haven't complained since i got it. Worked a lot better than the more expensive static collar which really scared him and which he learned to scratch off to the side so it wouldnt work. This was a better solution for small areas."

"I bougth this product because I live in an apartment building and my 1 1/2 year old lab started barking when anyone opened or closed the front door, walked up or down the stairs or came anywhere near the door to the apartment. I already have a bark collar, but I don't feel comfortable leaving it on him when I'm not home incase it malfunctions. I use the collar in the car for extended rides, but for house use it's not as effective. I bought this to help when I wasn't home to cut down on his barking, so far it's been 3 days. The first day he would bark a few times, then stop...bark a few times then stop, each time barking less. Now that I'm home from work he barks maybe once when someone opens the door and then he stops. The buzz only goes off for extended barking fits so it doesn't completely stop him from barking, which I like! I don't want him to forever stop barking.
CONS: No on/off switch. Also, fairly expensive for what it does, BUT it solved my apartment/neighbor issue so I am happy with the purchase."

"We bought this product because our two Australian Shepherds get a little bark happy. They bark when someone rings the doorbell, when they see a car pull up(even if it's our neighbors,) when they see strangers... etc... Although at first the noise made them stop in their tracks it definitely did not meet our needs or expectations. It seemed to affect our older 3 1/2 year old Aussie more than our 1 year old. It also went off constantly anytime my husband raised his voice to either talk over the TV or was in another room trying to have a conversation. Maybe I am niave to think that it should be able to differenciate between a human speaking loudly and a dog barking continually but it seems like a simple design flaw. The product also does not let out a correction tone when they do their "excited bark" which occurs when a friend comes over. Even now, the garbage collectors came past, they barked.... no tone.... So all in all, this product did not affect our dogs and I would not recommend it."
