Great for Pico Tanks
Date: November 4, 2008
"I have this light on a 5 gallon pico and it's a GREAT alternative for those on a budget. I get 10 watts per gallon and the half antics really help bring out the color of my coral. It easily fits into DIY lighting hood design since it fits into any standard light bulb socket. Imma gonna put two over my 10 gallon frag tank soon."

High Quality, But Expensive
Date: July 8, 2008
"I bought two of these for my 10 gallon freshwater aquarium. They look great, and the plants thrive, but they are kind of expensive. I will buy them again, but only because they are so good"

Work Great!
Date: May 15, 2008
"I have two of these on my 14 gallon, and one on my 5 gallon Hex. The little bits of Java Moss that was in my tanks has now come close to overtaking the tanks. They also do a great job of lighting the tank for human eyes to enjoy."

Growing Plants
Date: January 7, 2008
"This bulb really works for promoting plant growth in freshwater. watch out for algae growth with prolonged exposure. i am actually using this from the side for 4-5 hrs a day. seems to work well. one question. anyone know if the light is harmful to humans. there is some UV/blue light frequency in the spectrum... any comments would be helpful."

Great for the most part
Date: April 29, 2007
"These bulbs are great. For freshwater they are good for growing plants, but in saltwater, it's not enough to grow corals."

"i used 4 of them on my 25gl saltwater tank and my 130w orbit light on a 25gl tank and the Coralife Mini Compact Fluorescent 50/50 Bulb had more life growth on the rocks. and i paid a $189.00 + S/H for my orbit light and i paid $32.00 for the 4 Coralife Mini Compact Fluorescent 50/50 Bulb.
and Coralife Mini are doing a better job. im looking in to a way of makeing a light of all Coralife Mini Compact Fluorescent 50/50 Bulbs."

Well.....Not the best "punch"
Date: June 27, 2006
"Well this light bulb is definatly too weak to grow coral, Unless its a 2.5 pico-reef, Do your self a favor, and spend a couple bucks more for a PC light system, You will be much happier. For a Freshwater system (small at that too) this would be fine, but You dont even need actinic blue! And Please Do not attempt to grow saltwater specimens with this light bulb, remeber 5watts per gallon! (rule of thumb for saltwater coral) and You also shouldn't attempt a nano/pico-reef without trying a tank that is 30+ gallons. For a small Fish-only aquarium this would be a nice light."

Wow! What a Difference!
Date: December 23, 2005
"This is a great option for an incandescent hood. I put an incandescent bulb in one side and this one in the other and the effect is pretty stunning! Also, my tank water was a bit warm operating with 2 incandescent bulbs, but now with one of each the temp is just right! My heater never comes on, and the temperature mimics nature by getting a little cool at night with the lights off and warmer in the day when they are on. Great product!"
