only for good travelers
Date: September 9, 2009
"I purchased this carrier for my 9-month old kitten with "torti-tude." Needless to say, less than 5 miles down the road to the vet and she was in the back window of the car screaming at the cars behind us. After I pulled off to the side of the road and put her back in the carrier, I spent the rest of the trip with the carrier in the Grip of Death to keep her from bolting through the top opening. Nonetheless, the zippers and velcro were a cinch for her to poke her head through. I did have her in her harness, which I ended up using with some sailor knots for the trip home. This carrier is *only* for use with the laid-back traveler."

good carrier
Date: September 7, 2009
"i purchased this carrier because i have to carry my kitty and i'm short, so, i thought this would be helpful and easy to carry compared to those big hard cases. at first i was wondering if my cat would end up picking at the zippers and end up jumping out, but, i carried him all the way to manhattan (from queens) with out a problem. during the subway ride he also lay still on the lining they provided. also, if your kitty has a collar, there's a small leash inside to hold your kitty in, so he wont run away even if he end up finding a way to open the zippers.
i found it also easy to put my kitty in also. my kitty's only 3 month's old and is a very active cat, he plays and runs around the house all day long; at first, getting him in was hard because he doesnt know what it is and is scared but, i put a bit of kitty treat in the carrier to help him get use to it, and now he plays and hides in it all the time(:
but even if that doesnt work, it really isnt that hard to put your kitty in because there's 2 openings, one on the side and one on the top; the side opening is actually really, really easy to just stuff your cat in; or, you can hook on the leash and he cant runaway anymore.

Unsecure
Date: July 31, 2009
"This product looks nice, but it was not designed to be very functional. The top of the carrier does not zip completely closed. To close the top you zip both sides and then there is a button to close the other end (your zip the long sides, and button the loose short side). There is an 6 inch section of the top which is closed with a single button. This allows the pet to reach out of the top on either side of the button. once their paw is out they can just push the zipper down and open the top. Luckily my cat has only escaped indoors. I even tried to tie it closed but they still get out. the only thing you can do with this carrier is sew the top closed and only use the side door.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET UNATTENDED IN THIS CARRIER."

ok bag
Date: November 9, 2008
"I bought this bag on sale for $20 in the store. It is great for my small cat that weighs 12 lbs. She's not a fussy traveler;however, my larger 21 lb cat is and looks for every way possible to escape. She was able to poke her head through the top of the bag where the zippers end and fastener is and then push the zippers open. I now prevent her from escaping completely by using the clip from the end of the shoulder strap to fasten the zipper pulls to the D loop for the shoulder strap. While this dos not prevent her from sticking her head out it prevents her from escaping. This would not work for a small fussy cat as the zipper pulls leave enough room for a smaller cat to escape."

Dangerous bag
Date: September 21, 2008
"besides the bag falling apart..my dog was able to open the top zipper by pushing his head up through the top.....one day i was crossing the street with him and he opened the zipper and jumped right out of the bag into traffic. I was so terrified..fortunately i was able to get to him before a car did but i will NEVER use this bag again!"

A little too small for a small dog
Date: July 28, 2008
"I purchased this carrier for my toy Yorkie. She is 4 months and he weighs only 3lbs, but for some reason she hates it. When I put her in it she always climbs out and I have a hard time keeping her in while I am driving. I think it is a cute bag but needs to be made a little more roomier for the dogs comfort."

bag is nice
Date: July 14, 2008
"I just got it the bag looks nice...I have one of them plastic carrier things and when I got my cat she hated that carrier she meowed the whole way and I got this cause it seemed like it would be more comfortable for her. I put her in it to try it out and she didn't meow as soon as I got her in it. I didn't realize at first it had a side opening and I put in through the top. I was reading all the post and lots of people had issues with the top flap and cats being able to get their paw out by the latch thing well I looked at mine and the part of the zippers the things that is attached to both zippers if you take that and hook it into the arm strap and hook the arm starp to the loop thing that holds the zippers still so your kitty cant escape or if that dont work use a safty pin on it hooking the safty pin down lower on the mesh area so it holds the strap thing down further and the zipper wont move."

Not Good for Cats
Date: May 20, 2008
"I bought this because I have cats and it's easier to drop them into a carrier from the top than to try and shove them in through the door. However, the second time I used this to take my cat to the vet I had to pull the car over because she had discovered she could push on the top zipper and it would come unzipped. She got out and was climbing all over me while I was driving. Not creating a way to secure that top zipper is a major design flaw."

Love it
Date: May 7, 2008
"I have a small cat who is about 13 yrs old and I wanted something that she could be comfortable in during trips to the vet so I picked this up. At first she decided to be stubborn about it but after using treat as piece offerings, she accepted it. I also had a but of problem at first trying to get her into the carrier but it become easier after a couple of weeks....when I discovered that one of the sides can unzip and open. *DOH!*"

Top flap/zipper broke
Date: January 24, 2008
"We have always had cats so when we had to move we purchased two of these for our trip from Hawaii to Illinois and one of our cats busted through the top zipper of the carrier so much so that we couldn't fix the zipper and had to wire it shut until we got to IL. NOT FUN! We were paranoid the whole flight thinking our cat was going to bust out again. We still have the other carrier but the cats constantly shove their heads through the top flap/zipper opening. It works good for smaller younger cats since they don't know enough to escape but definitely don't recommend it for older larger animals/cats like ours. I recommend one of the stroller/carrier with wheels combos, those work great and are convenient. You just pay a little more but its worth it."

"I purchased this for my dog. He seems to do fine in it but the zippers are very stiff, he can open up the top compartment by himself, and after two weeks the inside of the front opening is coming apart. I am looking for a different carrier for my pet to travel in becasue this one is falling apart."

BROKEN!!!
Date: December 30, 2007
"My cat was able to break out of this carrier by pushing his head through the zipper by the latch on top. Really poor quality on the zipper, which could not be fixed. I had to hold it shut the entire way from Arizona to California. NOT fun."

"Overall, I like this product. I bought a large-sized one for my 12-pound mutt (I bought it in the store - she's too tall for the small one)
Soft-sided has its pluses and minuses. It's great because she can move around in there (pushing up against the sides) even if she has a towel or toys or something in there with her, but it also means the top sags down a little, so she's less likely to go in on her own.
It comes with both built-in handles and an adjustable removable shoulder strap. I find that it's difficult to carry it level with her in it on my shoulder, so I usually carry it by hand when she's inside and carry it on my shoulder when it's empty.
The pocket in the back (on the outside) is great for putting her bus pass (yes, you read that right), toys, treats, and leash in.
My major complaint (other than the possibility of squirming out the top zipper the cat owners have raised) is that there is no drop-down panel on the second long side - just on one long side - so when it's cold out it's hard to keep her warm. At home I drape a towel across the top, but I can't do that while I'm carrying it by the handles..."

Kitten Escape Artists Dream!
Date: September 13, 2007
"I got this for my new kitten. She refused to stay in it (at 7 weeks old). Possibly if she was put in it at birth things would have been different.
She could wedge her paw into the top where the zipper is & open the zipper enough to get out!
The carrier is nice fabric & all, but the design allows excape artists to prevail!

Don't Buy This Bag!!!
Date: August 22, 2007
"My kitten easily escaped from this bag while I was driving him to the vet. The zippers don't allow the top to close all the way, leaving room for little kitty paws to pull the zippers back. The fabric that latches over the zippers makes it look like the case is secure, but if you think of it from the cat's prospective, that fabric isn't preventing him from pulling the zippers open. When I got to the vet, I met another women with a smaller version of the carrier, and she'd just had the same problem with her 2 week old kitten escaping. I just hope we can still exchange the case for something better!"

good for the price
Date: August 10, 2007
"this bag is good for the money. it's not super fancy and the materials seem a little on the cheap end but it works. i bought the large for my almost 20 lb beagle and she barely fits in it, but i'm hoping i can use it to travel with on the plane even though the web says its a couple of inches too high and long. the base tends to hurt against my leg when i'm walking with my dog in it so i have to put it really high up on my waist. all in all, it works and it's cute, more gym/messenger bag looking than dog carrier crate-like."

"My cat is able to get out of the carrier via the poorly secured top flap every time i use it to transport it. Finally the cheap zipper which hold the poorly secured flap in place broke.
Spend the extra money for a better quality carrier.

Great carrier for airplane travel.
Date: May 23, 2007
"I have taken 4 air roundtrips, including an hour layover & change of planes, with my almost 16 lb. dog. He's an active 4 yr old, but not hyper. It fits under the seat on the 3 seat side, in the window seat. I have the larger carrier & although my dog quickly figured out how to poke his head out the top & open the zipper on our 1st trip (I took off bent over holding him in it), I figured out to clip the long handle so the zipper strap is inside the clip. He's max. size for the larger crate, but the flexibility makes it able to fit under the seat. Nothing has ripped or torn & he's attempted to escape each time out the top. I have had it for several years & have also used it to take him and other dogs in the car. Not sure why all the others have torn or broke. Mine has help up fine & I would recommend it highly."

Do not buy this carrier!
Date: February 26, 2007
"I was NOT satisfied with this product.
Two of my cats are former ferals, and one of them is still relatively skittish. He doesn't take kindly to confinement. I purchased this carrier because I figured the top opening would make it easier for the kennel staff to remove him when I board them.
As it turns out, the carrier never made it that far. I put him in the thing and left it in the living room while I carried the other three out to the car. I came back to find an empty carrier- the mesh on the sides was such poor quality that the cat (now hiding under the bed) was able to rip it to shreds and escape in a matter of seconds!
Thank goodness we were still INSIDE when he managed to bust out of it, or I may never have seen him again.
This bag might be appropriate for a more placid animal, but owners with fractious cats should steer clear! Either way, I would recommend not chancing it. For a small price increase, you can purchase not only a FAR better carrier, but the peace of mind that comes with knowing your pet is both safe and secure inside said carrier.
My verdict? Pass on this one. In fact, I'd go so far as to encourage owners with these carriers to give serious consideration to discontinuing their use."
