Our dog is very well behaved, but he sometimes begs for food and jumps on visitors out of excitement. He also cannot be trusted to be outside off-leash because his beagle nose controls his every move. We got this collar to use over the holiday break while we visited family, and it was the best pet purchase we've ever made. Just one click of the beep button alerts our 1.5 year old beagle/shepherd that he is misbehaving. He stopped begging almost completely during our visit, even with 30 family members around all eating food. If we pushed it when a new guest arrived, he immediately sat down on his bed or blanket and waited for the person to enter before greeting them, and even then he didn't jump up. We decided that it was going so well we would try the collar outside, and sure enough as soon as he started to try to wander, we pushed the button and he was right by our side. We've had this for about 2 months now and it has significantly improved our dog's obedience. HIGHLY recommended.

I am writing this review strictly on the piece of equipment, not how well it has trained my dog. One thing that needs to be addressed (which is a bit of false advertising on Pettags behalf), is that the collar piece does have a rechargeable battery, HOWEVER, the remote control does not. It takes a 23V which is not rechargeable and hard to find. I found it at my local hardware store and also online. I thought the thing was defective until I realized that the battery that came with the remote, was dead. I bought a battery at the store and that died within a week, so I’m hoping that was a bad batch and I won’t have that issue in the future. That being said and once I got the battery situation figured out, this thing works great. I have a very long haired, dense coated Pyr/collie/65lb mix and the tone and vibration worked perfectly. Actually so much, so that it freaked him out. So, as an alternative to something that hurts them, I highly recommend this.

This was a horrible purchase. We bought two for our decently behaved, but need some work, 6 month old pups. They know basic commands such a sit, wait, heel, ect. and we were hoping to use the collars to work on other things, such as jumping, pulling, ect.
The collars we ineffective at best and actually made things worse. Our male is terrified of the sound and started bolting to get away from it, the vibrations just confused him (we tried each setting) and he just runs around in circles. The female ignores both (again tried all settings.) I wouldn't recommend this to anyone for any purpose.
So now we are out almost $150 and have nothing but chaos to show for it, as now, even without the collars, they don't listen and we are having to retrain them both.

There are several areas where the product falls short.
Instructions are very poor in describing charging the unit. There are no details of how long etc. I think the unit has to be turned on to charge but still not sure.
Range of the unit did not seem to be as advertised. Based on field performance 50 yards is very optimistic.
The unit did not function as described in manual. CD said it would only vibrate when button was held. Actually ran for a second or two ( longer than in auto mode ).
With lack of good directions for use and marginal performance of the unit I would think it might cause more problems than it cured.
Buy a better unit with detailed instructions for use or better yet consult a professional trainer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I watched the video, charged the device for 24 hours. It never responded to the handcontroller. Would not recommend.

So far, all we have used is the beeper part. The other
button is like a cell phone on vibrate. I could not believe
as soon as she hears the beep, she right back standing by my side. Great option without harming
your pet. We have charged it 1 time in a week. We do turn it off at night.

I've returned and re-ordered this product 3 times now. Each time, the collar quits working within less than 2 months of purchasing it. This really stinks because when the collar does work; it works really well. My 3rd collar just died on me again today. Will ask my local Petco for a refund, but will not be re-ordering this for a 4th time.

Ordered this training collar and it was delivered as promised. I have a 8 month old 60 lb. baby Boxer boy. He is fine with me but jumps on the wife and creams the kids wanting to play. After only a couple tone corrections his deamenor completely changed . No more jumping on wife and actually sits at her command. Looking foward to watching the DVD and starting a training regime for our big puppy.

This product worked well for a remote operated collar control. The sensors did not pickup well on my dog's neck or when tested on my own. The product may have been faulty, but since it was only sold online I exchanged for a different product.

This product worked just passed the Petco return date. I will not order/ buy from petco again, and I would not recommend this product to anyone. It was a waste of 70.00!

I am dissapointed.it worked for 3 days. first recharge and it stopped. while functioning it was amazing and humane. my dog responded very well. if the product could be dependable with its contruction it would be worth the money. perhaps another brand will be more reliable for you. I am going to try and do an in store return and hopefully get some of my $63 back.

My Aussie is starting to bark a little too aggressive at strangers. Yes, I want him to bark but then, stop when I say so. He wasn't stopping, when I said so. I didn't want to look like a crazy person screaming at a barking dog. The vibration collar worked PERFECTLY. I let him bark, a few times - push the remote vibrate - he instantly stops barking and walks away. THE PROBLEM IS: it only worked for a few days. Then even fully charged, it didn't work at all. The return policy is very good and they let me return it within 45 days. I have to drive to the store to return it, then buy another one online. It works so good, I don't mind the hassle. ONLY WISH...this 2nd one lasts longer OR breaks before 45 days are up :o) OH YEAH .....another thing: It's kinda a pain having to carry that remote every where you go. It seems every time I needed it, I didn't have it. I'm hoping this 2nd one lasts long enough so he gets in the habit of stop barking when I say so (before it breaks).

I received the collar, watched the instructions, powered up the collar and put it on my dog and it did nothing. No sound, no vibration. USELESS. I chose this collar, because I don't want to hurt my dog. But, I need the collar to work as advertised.

This is definitely for a dog with a large neck. I was able to shorten it to fit our 8 lb terrier and am pleased with the performance of the Remote Trainer.

This seems to work very well at getting our border collie to listen and we love the fact that it's NOT a Shock collar so we know it's not hurting him and making him fearful..... gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because it is'nt waterproof

When we tried our first collar, we were happy that it didn't hurt our dog, but got her attention. So we ordered a second collar for our other dog. About that time collar #1 quit---so we replaced expensive battery & recharged, but it didn't keep working long. Meanwhile, we had received collar #2. It also stopped working, even sooner than the first collar! Again we replaced expensive battery & it worked a few days, then quit. We have changed batteries & recharged both collar several times, but both are now totally DEAD. We are VERY disappointed because it first worked so well for getting the dogs' attention........very deceptive that it started out working, but quit so soon.
