A little expensive, but incredibly thick and durable. The dog can chew it and our dog did chew one corner. The dog really likes it and you can tell that he sleeps very soundly on it.

Great for post-op pup

I'm writing a review for this product as a dog bed. After my dog had knee surgery I needed a bed that was low enough to the ground that she could easily get in and out and wasn't so puffy it made an uneven surface for her to trip on. I tried to find an orthopedic bed but there aren't many for small dogs. This pad worked perfectly! It was the only thing that made her comfortable post-op. With this she could move in and out of bed without my help. I can't say enough about what a difference this product made in her recovery. Now that she is two months out from surgery it is still her favorite bed.

The cover on this pad is exceptionally soft! My dog seems perfectly content laying on her side. Fits perfectly! I also already had to wash it once, and it was easy to put back over the foam mattress.

This product is cheaply made

I too experienced the bed falling apart during washing (in the area where I had carefully removed the manufacturer's tag). Washing the beds (I have two) trashed my washing machine and dryer because the fluff disconnects and goes everywhere. I would never wash them in my machine again. What is the point of owning a dog bed if you can't wash it without it falling apart and trashing your washer and dryer?

The lining is very soft, but the eggcrate foam could be more firm. I needed to add a rug under it to make if more firm and confortable.

My 18-month old Rottweiler chewed a hole in first 5 minutes.

I can't actually use this product because my 18-month old Rottweiler immediately, within 5 minutes of its being in place, chewed a hole on one of the pads and licked on the other before my stopping it. These pads were intended one for the Petco Premium 2-Door 800 series crate and one for Petco Home and Travel Premium Kennel 800 Series. I like both the Petco crate and the kennel.

My Rottweiler doesn't chew on non-food items unless in an anxious situation. She doesn't play toys at all. She was not in the stressed or anxious situation when she chewed on this pad. I wish that the pad could be designed in a way that my dog wouldn't think that it is a toy or food.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When checking out I was NOT under the impression that it was a 45$ crate mat, but decided to keep it when my Greyhound took right to it. He loved this crate mat so much that we just started using it as his actual bed. However, we have found that it is made very cheaply. While taking off the manufacturer tag (carefully), the bed tore open, revealing a very verrrry thin felt-like material at the bottom, the foam padding, and the one small line of stitching that was holding them all together. My dog is not even destructive and this bed came apart, so I would definitely NOT recommend this mat for higher energy dogs with chewing habits. Will try to re-stitch what I can and keep using the bed simply because he loves the soft brown material. If you can insure that this mat will be only is the safest and most secure conditions with no rough play or funny business, buy it. However, with dogs that is kind of a funny, non-realistic concept in most cases, and if I had a do-over, I would not have spent 45$ on this mat.

Love this crate mat

This crate mat is great. My dog loves it and can be found laying in his crate on his new mat throughout the day. My only negative comment is that the fur on the liner tends to shed. The mat is only a week old though, so it will likely stop once it gets broken in.

My dogs had outgrown their mats which had gotten shabby. These new mats are fluffy and firm with great support for my big dogs. And, they look great in my living room! I like that they are longer and less wide than some I looked at - and a great value! They fit the dogs better. Would buy another couple if I had another 2 dogs!

This is so soft and comfy that my dog goes into her crate to sleep instead of getting on the couch or bed. She loves it. When I leave her inside she stays in her crate for a few hours if its cold or to hot out. There are no problems getting her to get into the crate because she loves this pad. She's young but this would be great for older dogs as well.

definitely low quality orthopedic foam covered by a cheap fabric. At that price I was expecting a mat similar quality to a mattress topper we might use on our own beds. Wound not buy it again.

Foam is not heavy enough

These are very good looking mats, and the covers feel very soft, however the foam itself presses flat with pressure from just my hands. I doubt there will be any support for my 80 lb labs. It might be good for tiny or young dogs, however I was disappointed in the density/weight of the foam filler. This would not give good orthopedic support to an older dog. I will let you know later how the covers hold up.

A Must Have for a Crate!

My dog absolutely loves this Ortho Mat! I feel like the fanciest dog-mom because my dog's mattress is nicer than my own. :-) He snuggles right up in his crate and sleeps so well on it! I bought it during the Holiday Sale and got a great deal - although knowing how much Murphy loves it, I would have had no problem paying full price.

I got this so I wouldn't have to drag our dog's big dog bed out of the bedroom into the living room every day. This is her nap mat, and she likes it! I haven't washed the cover yet, but it is removable, which is nice. The quality seems good. It is very soft.

Placed the orthopedic dog mat into my dogs crate and she immediately wanted to test it out. Now I can't get her to come sleep in our room overnight. She's perfectly content to lounge on her newly softened crate surface. So happy she's happy

This bed is the first our dog does not chew through and fits perfect in the crate. The first one I washed in warm and hung to dry but it shrank at least 25%. I actually bought another and simply washed on cold and hung to dry again, it still shrunk 25. So now I have 2 foam pads with no cover. :(

In the past 8 months, I've purchased at least 10 other crate mats and my pooch has chewed all of them within a day or two (and he's only in the crate for naps and bedtime). This one has lasted for weeks now with no problems. Snicker's loves it and so do I!!!
